high sugar in blood, can't get hold of anyone until next week, should I be worried?

Just had a message in Spanish telling me that they've found sugar in my blood. Being Friday, everyone has gone home! Dd's first day back at school on Monday, so I can't get to the clinic. Is it safe to hold on until Tuesday? I have high blood pressure, I don't know if that has any bearing on the matter. Should I be panicing?

You should be OK until Tuesday. If you do have gestational diabetes (and you might not, it could just be a one-off reading) then it'd be the cumulative effect over a period of time that would be the issue.

If I were you I'd follow a sensible eating plan for diabetics to be on the safe side, go in on Tuesday if you can't make it on Monday and try not to panic.

Thanks, it's so frustrating that the whole of Spain shuts down at certain times!

what about pharmacies? are they open? could they offer advice? maybe do another test on the spot for you?

They don't open til 5, which is not so bad. I don't think they will do tests, as it's quite one man ,one job here but It's worth giving it a try.

lucy, if you are desperate you could pee in a bottle and smell it

mw seem to test for blood sugar in urine in the Uk so maybe you could buy some of those wee sticks at the pharmacy and retest - it might put your mind at rest if it's a neg result? Sorry - no other ideas but you have my sympathy for the stress of waiting til Tuesday. I guess if the clinic didn't say anything like 'come immediately to the hospital' then they can't think it is urgent.

How would it smell?

I think I just panicked as I 'm not 100% sure that I fully understood the message. I'll hold off til Tuesday, if it was urgent, they would've rung again, i hope!
