Booking Appointment/ Dating scan

Hi all,

Can I ask how long it took for you to receive an appointment for your dating scan after you had your booking appointment?

I had my booking appointment on 20th April, and was dated roughly 6wks 6 days. So, it's now been over three weeks and I haven't had a letter through to say when my scan will be.

I'm wondering if this is normal, or NHS inefficiency (midwife was very harried during my appointment, couldn't do blood tests so I had to go to hospital for those on a different day, so I'm paranoid she's forgotten!)

I'm based in Hertfordshire, Hemel, if any one has any local experience.

Don't even have contact details of midwife to check in with her direct!

Thanks!

You could try ringing your GP surgery for advice or the maternity services if you know which hospital you're likely to be referred to. That said, I didn't have a letter for my dating scan, just a phone call, at 11 weeks telling me which day to come in.

I had my booking in at 12 weeks and scan was a week later. I'm sure it'll be on its way soon...It sounds like you have an efficient hospital to be booked in so early!

My booking in was at 9 + 4 and she made the appointment on the phone while I waited.

Saw the doctor at 5 weeks, booking appointment at 10+3 and have my scan tomorrow at 12+3 (eek!) - my letter with my scan appointment took about 10 days to come through, though there was a bank holiday in between my appointment and the letter arriving.

Were you not given notes at booking appointment? That should have midwives contact details. If not ring your gp surgery - they will have a number to contact midwife.
I cant remember how long it took to get appointment through for scan. Scan should be between 11-13 weeks.

I had my booking appointment 2 weeks ago (at 7+5) and I'm yet to hear a date for the scan. I'm getting pretty impatient so if I haven't heard anything by Friday, I'll give the mw a call.

No, RAFwife12, I wasn't given my notes because me wouldn't give them to me without blood test info. I wish that she had made the appointment there and then like you WillYouDoTheFandango, I'd be so much more reassured I haven't been list in the system. In between the appointment running half an hour late, very rushed form filling out, and her taking a call from her husband half way through, I was really unimpressed! Will ring the GP now as she didn't give me her contact info.

I got my scan date when I first phoned to book for booking in, though I didn't get booking in till 13+3 and scan at 13+6 - who knew 2 months wasn't enough notice to get it earlier! I got the letter confirming dates a week later. Mine was booked directly with the midwife unit, didn't go through GP at all. Every place is different I suppose.

I had my booking appointment at 7 weeks and the midwife called the hospital and booked my scan for me for when I'd be 12 weeks.

I called the hospital today as I still hadn't heard anything and they hadn't received a referral from my midwife. Luckily they were fab and booked it for me directly so if you don't hear anything soon, give your hospital a call and see if they can book it in for you.
