Hi all, I'm new to this, I really need some advice plz,

My partner and I have been trying for a baby since 20th dec 2013 ( so not long)
I was on cerazete, the mini pill. I had my period on the 17th of January 2014, for 7 days. We had sex everyday after that. I knew I'd ovulated on the 27/28th January.
On Sunday 16th, first morning wee, I used a clearblue test (not the digital one) and instantly came up positive (over the moon ??) so my partner my a digital one in the afternoon, and again, this said pregnant 1-2 weeks ??
Problems here....went to the doctors this mornin, 3 days after the positive clearblue tests, and she tested my wee and said it's negative ?? she did me a blood test but I've to wait til Friday. So in my upset I went a bought another digital clue blue. I waited 4 hrs before doing it, and didn't go to the toilet til I tested, this test said, PREGNANT 2-3 weeks. CONFUSED! Please advise me as this is doing my head in xx

Well none of us can possibly know, but a false positive is far less likely than a false negative. So if you had a positive test today you probably are.

It sounds like the dr's test was not very sensitive or your wee was too dilute. It's incredibly rare to get a false positive, so it seems that you are pregnant. The blood test should show this.

Why did the dr test, btw? Mine just took my blood pressure and booked me in with the midwife.

Seems weird that they even tested. Mine said that the over the counter tests were so reliable that they didn't need to test again.

You must be pg. theres something wrong with the gp's test. Clearblue is pretty reliable. So congratulations.

I work in the NHS trust me they buy the cheapest tests they can. The ones where you usually have to wait between 3 and 8 minutes for a result and most doctors say negative if it doesn't come up with a positive straight away. The same thing happened to me Gp told me she got a negative when I was pregnant. Your hormones have obviously risen as youve gone from 1-2 weeks to 3-4 weeks in a few days I wouldn't stress too much

Totally agree, work in nhs and the tests are really for when you are worried about an ectopic pregnancy (usually 5-6 weeks pregnant) so are not as sensitive as over the counter ones are these days. We generally don't offer pregnancy tests to confirm the home ones to avoid just this situation.

There is really no other reason you would test positive on so many home bought ones and not a gp one. Whilst there are other reasons to have hcg in your system (molar pregnancies for example), false positives are rare as hens teeth. Your blood test is likely to confirm early pregnancy - congratulations!

Thank you everyone for your time to reply.
I took a sample in just in case. But the doctor was running late (45 mins!). When I walked in she wasn't really listening and then answered her phone. I was fuming to say the least. She told me to go back into the waiting room as the test takes up to 10 mins. When I eventually got called back in, she laughed and said your not pregnant. I explained the 2 clearblue tests on Sunday been positive. Very strong + came up straight away on the none digital one, and within a minute on digital one. I even showed her the pics I'd taken on my phone. She really didn't care, she said we will do blood test, and I want to see the results of this mirical.... To say I was ready to explode with her attitude and manors is an understandment. Feel a lot better about this thanks to you all. Fingers crossed blood tests are back very soon. Ps, I will not be seeing that doctor again xx

Wow, the doctor sounds like a real cow! I would be furious. You're clearly pregnant though and it'll be nice when the blood test confirms that. Perhaps you can then laugh at her just as she laughed at you! Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!

She sounds like a charmer! I've never heard of the GP even testing to confirm. I wonder why she did that. With my first, GP told me if the hpt said positive then I was pg. he said they don't test as hpt very reliable even more reliable than cheap NHS ones.

That's so weird. I did a clearblue digital last Friday and it came up positive. I had slight bleeding yesterday so went to see my doctor today and the test she did came back negative. I did another test this evening at home and it was positive again. Not sure what to think now!

The gp ones are far less sensitive than the digital clearblue ones, thats why the gp's go by the blood tests instead. The clearblue ones test to 5HCG and the doctors or cheap ones to 50 HCG.

Shocking though that your GP said that, it seems quite rude.

You are pregnant.

There was a thread here recently where a woman was told she's not pregnant by the doc and nurse, even though there was a line. They claimed that as the line was not the equal strenght to the control line, that meant the result was negative. Confused Maybe you went to the same GP?

Yes that doctor is a cow bag. I bought some tests from pound shop this morning, they look like doctors ones. That's come back positive, will try the rest later. Think im in denial because of the silly doctor. My partner keeps telling me to calm down, and that I am pregnant. Looking forward to the blood test coming back, I will relax then. I feel pregnant, my boobs are major sore, no bleeding since period ended last month, feel sick and exhausted. I'll reply with the results of blood tests as soon as I get them xx

The GP tests are much less sensitive. I remember getting a strong positive at home and the GP test had just a faint line.

Congratulations, you are pregnant.

Have you thought about complaining to the practice manager re. GPs attitude and conduct?

Report
MissBattleaxe · 19/02/2014 12:57

Right, if you've had FOUR positive pregnancy tests then you are pregnant. the Doc sounds like her mind wasn't on the job. Plus you said you took a sample in and I do think it's always better to pee on a stick, especially first thing in the morning.

Complain to the practice manager about the crap doctor and insist that you prefer not to see her again.

Oh and congratulations!

I can understand why the doctor has made you feel unsure but you are clearly pregnant :-). I should have said in my last post that I tested with the cheapie tests the NHS uses and with superdrug tests on the same days. It took several days before the cheapie test showed up a clear line unlike the superdrug test which was positive at 10dpo. Congratulations!

Just had the call ?? silly doctors just called me to say the blood test shows that my tests were right and yes I'm pregnant!! ?????? She was said she wants to see me at 9 in morning with a first morning wee. She said her and the nurse were very shocked and sorry. She thinks it's a bad batch of tests, so wants to tell the manufacture straight away. Yes I got the results I wanted, but her behaviour yesterday was extremely rude and unprofessional. I've been worried if u would ever get pregnant because I've found lots of horror stories on the web about woman having problems getting pregnant after stopping the mini pill cerezette. Well I've just proven, one month off it, having one period, no withdrawal bleed, that it is possible. Thank you to everyone who had taken the time to reply, all of you are strangers, but what a fab place net mums is, thank you xxx
