Satisfying a craving

Just had baked beans on toast for lunch after DH going out on his lunch break specifically to buy baked beans for me and just sat here marveling at how such mundane food can taste so great when you have a full on craving for it!

I figure craving baked beans has got to be better than the craving for gummy type sweets I had with ds2.

So is it just me craving everyday foods in normal combination? Nothing like fish fingers and custard here for me (would be cool though maybe you'd be growing a time lord?)

I've mostly had normal food cravings, lots of fresh veg and milky things, but I did have an odd moment when I really wanted some marmite to dip my banana in Hmm

I know I've lost the plot if I crave marmite - yuk! Defiantly in the hate camp on that one.

Sorry, gotta disagree with you there, marmite has its place. On crumpets, in bolognase sauce and with cheese and crackers. I won't stoop so low as to say that it's a good idea with fruit though Grin
Beans on toast does sound good though, not sure I can be arsed to fight with the cutlery draw to get it to hand over the can opener though.

I drank milk by the gallon when I was pregnant with DD. And ketchup and mango chutney tasted better than they ever had before. Ketchup in particular was like a food of the gods.

The only good place for marmite is the bin (imo) :-)

Food of the gods is exactly the right description who knew beans could taste so good! Almost wish I had weird cravings it would make for a far more interesting tale to tell the kids whrn their all grown up.

On the Marmite note, it turns out the week we would have conceived with our first, I bought my husband a tiny pot of the stuff.

It's called 'the baby one'. Don't like Marmite, but may keep it for the memory!!

So far, no cravings as it's early days. How early did your cravings start? Ive been put off food that I love, so I could really do with a craving or two.

I've been craving everything i can get my mouth around.. literally. The only thing i've 'gone off' is Diet Coke- which is great- that stuff is so bad! all that horrible aspartame.
How early do cravings normally start though? i am probably not far along enough (10 wks) for anything really. I just have an INSATIABLE hunger all the time!

Anna I didn't start getting real 'I must have this now or I'll cry' cravings until the third trimester, but that was probably because up until then I couldn't keep anything down.

I also crave... pretty much everything, especially savoury. The moment I think of or somebody mentions particular food I have to have it.
So far I seem to be one of those 25% of women that don't get MS and my appetite has been enormous! Which worries me a bit as I normally have BMI of 19 and am generally not that interested in food (drink on the other hand is a different story... :-))
Cheese with ketchup, Thai curries and pickled cucumbers are particular favourites at the moment.

I've been craving egg sandwiches, spinach, coco pops and orange juice with bits in. I just have to have an egg sandwich when ever possible!

Actually, just realised I DID have a craving!!! For saltine crackers! Apparently you don't get those in England so got Ritz crackers instead.

Cicamomma, know how you feel. I'm always hungry at 8 wks but if I eat too much or the wrong thing, I feel I'm going to puke. :-(

Well I'm nearly 22 weeks and I knew it was a craving today as nothing else would do for your lunch. I would have rather not eaten if I couldn't have had baked beans. I don't think there's any rules on when cravings become 'real' tho others may disagree? Now amused rembering previous posts where people have craving snobbery dictating what and when its considered a real craving ;-)
