Freaking out about 12 wk scan

I have a DD who is nearly 20 months.

Had miscarriage in July at 7 weeks.

Pregnant again and 12 weeks + 2. Scan on Tuesday & i'm petrified they are going to tell me its a missed miscarriage. A friend told me I'd know if anything was wrong, but then I found out about missed miscarriages. I don't feel pregnant at all right now. All symptoms have gone. Just worried. Sad

Hi Mrs

In almost exactly the same boat as you. 2yo DS, miscarriage in June at 10weeks, 13+1 today and having my scan tomorrow. Again, all my symptoms (except bigger boobs, I think) have gone.

I have (of course) googled until the cows come home, and I'm seeking solace in the fact that many people's symptoms do settle down about the 11 week mark. That said, I am really worrying about tomorrow and cannot let myself get excited about this pregnancy just yet. I keep fantasising about telling people, but then I have to rein myself because of the missed miscarriage fear.

So, not much help, I'm afraid, but a bit of solidarity. Hopefully it's just the transfer over to the placenta that's making our symptoms disappear. Keeping everything crossed for you. Let me know how you get on on Tuesday xx

I know how you are feeling, I had a missed miscarriage found at my 12 week scan earlier this year, I'm now 23 weeks pregnant. If it helps at all I still had all my pregnancy symptoms with the MMC, despite having expected them to have eased (due to placenta taking over) so lessening symptoms is more likely to mean things are fine in my eyes.

Although you read about MMC on here a lot, apparently it's actually quite rare, so honestly try not to worry to much - I spent the first 12 weeks convinced that I would lose this baby too - the kicks in the bladder that I'm currently receiving are proof that this little girl is fine :)

its my first baby but most of my symptoms had eased off by the 12 week scan.. at least got better, so that left me worrying..

baby was fine and having a merry dance for us all to watch..

but it is the longest time before the sonographer says alls ok theres the heartbeat.

and this is my first experience.. so I cant imagine how hard it must be for you...

I'm in the same boat! 12 week scan on Friday after two early losses this year. My symptoms appear to be easing off apart from the odd cramp and round ligament twinges (am hypermobile so these were always going to be a problem) - I've been trying to tell myself that the ligament stretches wouldn't happen if the baby were no longer growing but honestly, Friday can't come soon enough!

Hi Mrs, sorry about your miscarriage.
Congratulations on your pregnancy.
I had a missed miscarriage discovered at 13 weeks in October 2012. At the time I didn't really think anything was wrong and was totally floored at our scan when they told us but looking back I did feel very poorly, not pregnancy symptoms but actually ill and deep down didn't feel 'right' throughout that pregnancy. I think it is quite common from reading threads on here that many woman don't have any definite pregnancy symptoms until a bit further on or u are just lucky not to be dealing with the dreaded sickness just yet. I can say that when we got pregnant again after our loss I just completely ignored it and put it to the back of my mind so if I was having symptoms I just didn't pay attention, I just wanted scan proof that everything was ok, I realised I couldn't control whether a baby stuck or not as it isn't anything we did wrong that caused our loss if that makes sense. I think I finally acknowledged this baby was coming about 26/28 weeks ish and they were due yesterday but they must know how cold it is out here so are staying put inside!!! Lol
Miscarriage really does affect subsequent pregnancies because there is always the worry and believe me I have worried but u just have to somehow find the strength to plough through it all and there is no one right way to deal with a loss or a pregnancy after. I wish u all the best with your scan on Tuesday and sure u will be celebrating with fireworks Smile

Wow, what timing! I'm 12 weeks today and have my scan on Friday and am also worrying about mmc.

I've had a previous miscarriage and have a Ds. With both i bled so i had early scans. Not used to having to wait this long. It is very nerve wracking. I seemed huge a few weeks ago and now i feel like I'm barely showing and don't really feel pregnant.

I guess we will all know by this time next week.

Good luck to everyone xxxx

I have my 12 week scan on Tuesday as well and I've had 2 previous mcs (no DC). I'm really nervous too and can offer solidarity, if nothing else, as well. Let's all get through this together!

SharpLily I'm the same with pulling ligaments etc & keep thinking surely that wouldn't be happening if nothing was going on in there!

With DD I was scanned early & all the way along due to bleeding. This time has been SUCH a long time to wait & now its nearly here I'm bloody petrified.

Tuesday can't come soon enough but on the same token I just don't want to know if its bad news. My Dad is going to sit with DD while we go for the scan & if its bad news I'm just not going to be able to face coming home!!!!

My mantra has become something I read online "conception within 6 months of MC = less chance of complications".

Please do update on how you all get on. Think positive, think positive, think positive.

So glad to find this thread, also 12 weeks today and have a scan on Tuesday morning. All my symptoms seemed to disappear about a week ago and now I'm som scared that there is going to be a problem. I'm counting down the hours until Tuesday, like MrsRV I've got my parents watching DD and don't know what I'll do if there's a problem and I have to face them when we get home. Good luck to everyone and hoping that there are lots of lovely scan photos being clutched soon!!

Op, I had a mmc at 12 weeks last December and am pg again. I had my 12 week scan yesterday and it was fine. Like you, I was sure it would be bad news I have had hyperemesis which mysteriously disappeared with all my other symptoms this week. Apparently its the placenta taking over. Congratulations, I know its awful waiting but it will most likely be good news! I will think about you tues.

Good luck OP, and all others in the same situation. Only 6+4 here and 2 mcs so having a reassurance scan on Thursday.

Good luck with your scan. I had a couple of mc myself i understand the anxiety while you are waiting for the reassurance of a scan.

if you have got to 12 weeks with no bleeding the chances of discovering a missed miscarriage at the scan are only 1 or 2 percent. Most of the time you would have already miscarried by then.

Thanks Wowser and everyone else for your good wishes.

All went well today for us, thanks. I can't tell you the relief to see this little one wriggling about on the screen. At 13 weeks, there seemed to be so much more to see than the dating scans I've seen before, so we left feeling really happy!

At last, I feel like we can start planning. And have finally plucked up the courage to dig out my maternity clothes :-)

Good luck to those of you having scans tomorrow. Fingers crossed for some happy news xx

Kat&Kit I found your post really reassuring. Well, ish. Still nervous about the morning.

Suedehead that is SUCH brilliant news.

I did a pregnancy test today & it was positive as soon as the wee hit the stick, so also reassuring - however I did then sit trying to examine how dark the line was & that freaked me out - it wasn't quite as dark as the control line!

Praying for good news tomorrow. I fear I might actually blub either way!!!!!

I felt exactly the same before my scan last week, in fact was going to post about it but forgot! Had been so paranoid since I got a bfp, totally convinced something was wrong and didn't feel pregnant at all! I hardly slept before my scan and almost couldn't look at the screen in the scan as I was so petrified, but all was fine Smile

FX for you for tomorrow Smile it will be such a relief for you to see bubs and a little heart flickering away Grin
