Maternity fancy dress?

I have to attend a fancy dress thing next week and have put off getting a costume as I am 28 weeks pregnant. I can go as anything really, there's no real theme.

The only maternity costumes I can find are vile. Does anyone have any links or suggestions as to what I can go as please? I thought a nun or red riding hood, but someone is going as RRH and a nun seems pretty boring.

TIA.

A Greek goddess with a big white sheet wrapped around you or a toga costume that can be adjusted around bump

An old nanna - huge old lady nightgown from charity shop and a shower cap / rollers or a wig

Or more randomly that guy from the hangover with the tight t-shirts and big belly haha :)

Find an orange stretchy maxi dress in the sales and go as a space hopper Grin

Miss World - posh dress or smart maxi dress with a sash, tiara and blingy jewellery

Beach ball - black leggings & vest with your bump painted/decorated (I am thinking of doing this for Halloween but bump as a pumpkin)

I like the Greek goddess/toga idea - especially if its still hot

A mexican? comfy trousers and a poncho over the bump?

Agree a nun would be brilliant.

Possibly slightly controversial but an old friend put some Facebook photos up a few weeks ago of her and a couple friends dressed up as full on pregnant chavettes. Think trackie bottoms, florescent right clothing, rollers in the hair, lots of "bling", in fact I think my friend for a hair roller had an empty lager can.

The photos were very cringe but funny, and in the right place and company quite entertaining.

Thanks all!

I think I'm going to go with the Greek goddess idea as I will be able to stay cool, still look a bit glam and also show off my pregnancy cleavage a bit! As well as having something to fit over my bump obviously! Grin

You should go as a mummy. Wrapped in bandages. Grin

I went to a fancy dress thing when pregnant. I went as a zombie fairytale character. I was Little Dead Riding Hood. White sheet. White make-up, blood red lips.

Haha. A mummy is excellent!

I've found some little Britain costumes now and 'Andy' is very tempting, but I fear my boobs are too big. I'm very tempted to go as Vicky Pollard though, but not sure if I'm confident enough to carry it off... It would be funny though...

I think going as Kate would be excellent. Smart frock if you've got one, crown for you and DH, and some nude courts.

Craftgawker.com website has a couple of good Halloween pg costumes

1 is black top/legging with skeleton painted on in white - and cute baby skeleton on your tummy (in a nice way)

The other is much more gory - white t-shirt with red paint and plastic baby arm and leg poking through like a monster child trying to get out.

Am pondering which one will be better for work fancy dress day when I'm 36 weeks Grin

Pity it's not closer to Christmas! A pregnant friend came to a Christmas fancy dress as Virgin Mary!

Vicky pollard would be goodGrin
All you need is a kappa jacket or something similar and stick your half your hair in a high ponytail with a scrunchy, lots of eyeliner and an attitude to go with it. Your dh could be the teacher
