Please reassure me (and tell me I'm a hypochondriac)- "period" pains at 31wks

For the last 2-3 hours, I've been really uncomfortable.
Period-type pains.
Constantly feel like I want to poo (sorry!) but can't (and don't need to)

I'm just a hypochondriac, and this is all part of the usual aches and pains of late pregnancy, right?

I'm just feeling a bit panicky. But then feel like I'm being ridiculous.

Third pregnancy. Nothing like this in previous ones.

Help! Sad

Don't want to alarm you but I think you should call your midwife. I'm experiencing the same thing at 37 weeks and have been into triage and told they are contractions. It's possible baby will be along soon for me. This hopefully isn't the case for you but again call the midwife. It's better to be safe. Hopefully all will be ok.

Thanks for getting back to me
I feel so utterly ridiculous, but I know I'm not imagining it

Was about to ring them, anyway, as can't sleep...

Fingers crossed I'm just being silly! :-S

Do call the midwife. However also do not panic, i know someone who went into labour at 34 weeks and her daughter was fine. i know it is a little later than you but i want you to just get yourself to triage and if baby is on its way then you are in the best possible place.

Good luck Smile

Yes, you must call to be on the safe side but don't panic yourself. You can be pregnant and have a dodgy tummy too!

Ring them. Sounds contraction-like to me.

I would give them a wee call too, just to be safe. Try not to worry :) Flowers

thanks everyone.
Just back from hospital now.
The main news is that I'm not in premature labour, thank God!
Waiting on some other tests.... will know in the morning about those.

Knew I wasn't imagining it, but also felt so guilty and embarassed about making a fuss about it all... but.... the midwives/docs were just brilliant and reassured me it's always better to get these things checked.

Main thing is: there were no contractions, baby was moving well and her heart-rate was good.

Need to sleep now! But just wanted to say thanks for the help earlier. I think I would've rung anyway.... but it helped to know I wasn't being completely ridiculous.

The exact same thing happened to me on Wednesday OP, all was fine at hospital when I went. My pains seemed to be aggravated by walking/standing too much, so have been taking it easy since and the pains have gone :). Always best to get checked!

Funny Gerty, I had period type pains the other day when I was walking up a steep hill in the heat, after a very active morning.

OP never feel guilty if at all worried! They would always rather people came in to get checked out. Glad all is OK!

bunchofposy I almost passed out with one Wednesday morning, ironically on my way to hospital to get checked. Think that was a combo of walking and the heat. 5 weeks and counting til the pineapple and curries come out :)

Five weeks for me too - I am counting the days (and have a cupboard full of curry in waiting!!)
