Just been prescribed this by a walk in doctor for rather extreme nausea and sickness and on the label it says DO NOT take in pregnancy. Shall I stop taking them now?

I would. Call your midwife or GP, get a second opinion. Flowers

Hi there cyclizine should be fine - it is one of the recommended drugs for treatment of sickness during pregnancy.

But do have a chat with your midwife or GP tomorrow who will hopefully be able to put your mind at rest.

Cyclizine is commonly prescribed for severe sickness in pregnancy. I have had it for all three of my pregnancies (oldest is 7 yrs old now) so it has been the case for a least a little while.

It is also available OTC (according to pharmacist when I was last in hospital) as an antihistime, which is probably why the warning is there. It should only been taken when pg when prescribed by a dr.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi i took this daily from 20 weeks until dd2 arrived at 37 weeks. They have to put those warnings as testing drugs on pg women unethical (or something like that). Dd2 is a healthy 20 week old now and i doubt i woukd have surviveemd without it!

It is commonly used, check out the hyperemesis support thread the ladies there know all about the meds. Hope you feel better soon being sick is horrid!

Oh and there is a MN support thread for women who have been really sick in pregnancy, I think you will find lots of people who have been on cyclizine and other treatments on there which might help.

I used it from 6 weeks to 20 weeks in my 2nd pg. DD is now a healthy nearly-9yo. It really helped me, but probably best to check with your own gp/mw just to put your mind at reast Smile

It's fine to take. I'm 31 weeks pregnant and have been on cyclizine since 6 weeks due to hyperemesis. Bubba is perfectly fine.
