its probably nothing but my bump has been feeling quite tender down the left handside and kind of hot, for the last day or so. still getting movements etc am i just imagining it, I am a bit of an anxiety girl so I'm assuming it is normal but knew/hoped that some of you would be able to tell me. i had wondered whther its from sleeping on that side awkwardly or something.

How many weeks are you Olivo?

Just asking as I had a really sore bump at 38 weeks with ds4. He was a transverse lie and as he kicked and stretched he was bruising me from the inside. Really sore, especially when mw examines you.

Talk to your mw. If you're feeling lots of movement it could be bruising from a little foot or fist hitting the same spot.

do i just phone the maternity unit and ask to talk to a midwife? have only been to the hospital twice, except for my scans. no one has ever really talked about what to do if I'm worried

You could do that. Do you have a number for your community mid wife? I know different areas have different systems. Do you not have a midwife you see at a regular appointment?

i'm not in the uk - and I'm doing shared care so i see my doctor for most of them. don't know about community midwives - they didnt really give me much info.

Phone the maternity unit. I'm sure they can put your mind at rest. Your right - you don't want to sit and worry. Let us know what they say.Smile

Id thought Id write this for others future reference. Im 20 weeks and I had a slight stabbing pain in my left side that seemed to be by my hip. I ignored it and put it down to growing pains but then 3 days ago it sort of spread up towards the left side of my bump and when I leaned in that direction it really hurt. Im abroad so was going to have to wait a bit to go to the doctor, but then it suddenly cleared up this morning and the baby is kicking fine.
I really think it was my bowels, maybe some sort of infection or constipation because our digestion slows down when were pregnant. I knew for a fact it wasnt the baby, because I know exactly what my womb feels like after years of period pains.
Ive had so many weird aches and pains since I got pregnant that it is difficult when to decide if its just one of those things, or if its something more serious.
Maybe someone might find this useful.
Maria
