Swollen 'Front bottom' at 26 Weeks Pregnant : - (

I'm 26 weeks pregnant & have been having problems with constipation/piles for most of my pregnancy. Have sort of resolved this by having Fibre 1 for breakfast.

However, now trying to get to grips with another problem.....as per the title.

I thought it might be vulva varicose veins, but having read the description, doesn't appear to be the case.

The symptons are hot, draggy feeling. Like someones put a hot flannel at the front of the my knickers. So not an inside issue.

I had it Sunday & had to spend a great deal of the day with my feet up, yesterday at work re-occured - after a lunchtime walk. And today, after walking around it happened.

I asked the midwife's advice this morning & she suggested I look in Boots ( as it was quite early ?! - in the day/pregnancy ?) for some support thing - with her hands she suggested the shape pants. I looked, but have no idea what she meant....jock strap for ladies ?

Not suffering from swelling anywhere else & I'm not particulary heavy - 9 st 2lb - 5ft 3in.

Any advice gratefully received : - )

Sounds like vulval varicose veins to me.I had this when preg with dd2 and is v uncomfortable ,lying down does help as it takes the pressure off the veins .The pain was like a dragging /pulling feeling and i could visibly see the veins protruding like black grapes at the front but underneath was swollen. Not much you can do other than rest ,apply cold compress (ouch!!) or wear really thick mattress
like sanitary towels for support. My midwife looked at mine to confirm (v-embarrassing)Shockand she recommended giving birth on my side so there was less pressure on the veins.Hth you have my sympathy.

hi mojomummy,i had the exact same symptoms as you with dd1 5 years ago,i was about the same months too,the doctor said it was vulvovaginitis, basically an inflamed wotsit, she gave me cream for thrush and a pessary, the first lot i had,had perfume in which i thought was crazy because perfume and sore bits do not go,so the second lot i think was the canesten stuff you can use in pregnancy ,after a few days i could sit down, but initially i thought it was piles in the front bits,i'd go get a second opinion, because i still remember the pain now, second pregnancy went fine,so can only put it down being a yeast infection, hope this helpsBlush

thanks - as it comes & goes, it wouldn't be a yeast infection ? would it ?

Also, I can't see any veins - or rather i couldn't feel any...maybe I'll get the mirror out next time is happens (hope I don't faint).

Support tights then ? in the summer Sad, for the next 3 mths...oh well..

Have you given birth before MM?

(There is a reason for asking btw)

mojo - I had a similar thing with dd2 and gp advised me to wear control top undies with some thick thick pads in as well for support. V uncomfortable I have to say - I'm preg again and I'm sure I'll have the same thing towards the end. ( they did all go which was my main concern, and I didn't have to lie on my side to give birth!)
hope it's not all bad and you can relieve the pressure a bit

Hi, where do you buy support things ? Blush

Yes, have given birth before - they're not there all the time - in fact when I looked today when feeling a bit heavy, I couldn't see anything odd(!)

don't fancy wearing a thick pad all summer....Sad

I bought a pair of 3 from M and S.
not the sexiest of course ( but I have kept them in case I need this this time around as well!
They are full on big pants - but I used to fold them under my bump

the things we go through !

i went to Boots today & asked...no joy & only barely black support tights - just the thing I need in this weather Grin

Managed to walk around town ok & just had to 'clutch' myself when I slowed down round the shops.

Feet up & a bag of frozen peas it is Wink

Hi, It could just be pelvic pain, I've been getting this, I'm 29 weeks pregnant with my third child. It feels like my pubic bone and surrounding tissue wants to hit the floor! My midwife gave me a leaflet about it, maybe yours would too, I think it's sometimes called pelvis girdle pain. Hope this helps.
