Hi Just wondering about 4D scans, has anyone had one of these done and what was the experience ?

I'm a bit sceptical about safety and some of the example pictures look a bit scary..

Feedback appreciated.

Hi everyone, havent got much info as I've got 4d scan booked for 13th May. I know a few girls who have had one and they just say its the most amazing thing. I am just worried incase the picture is either unclear or really alien like and doesnt look like a baby?
Are you finding out the sex? I'm really tempted but am going to resist. I havent heard about any of the machinery being harmful to the baby? Am hoping I've made the right decision now as its all paid for Grin
I can come back and give you my experience in 9 days.

Bighotmamma - with mine I was assured that I would get lots of clear pictures and if I didn't I could have another scan FOC at a later date. However, this wasn't nec. I was in there for over an hour, I had 7 family members with me (like being at the cinema!) we all had cups of tea/coffee/biccies and were really looked after. Occassionally I'd have to sit up/move about to get ds to get into a good position so don't worry about not getting good scans, providing the company you have gone with are reputable then you shouldn't have a problem.

Thanks Hot Mama,

I've got mine on the 18th May, I hope all goes well for yours :)

My dp and mum are desperate to know the sex, but I don't want to know.
This is my first and I think after all that hard work during labour, then I want a decent surprise at the end of it!

I'm a bit worried too about how the images will come out, as on some pictures the faces look bumpy and like you said alien like.

Chloe sounds like you had a right old knees up! There'd have been no biscuits by the time I got my hands on them. They have said if the picture is unclear they'll ask me to go for a little walk and have a cup of sugary tea to get the baby moving into suitable position so thats good to know. They havent offered a FOC appointment if it doesnt work though, thats a good deal isnt it?
RantingRed I'm the same as you hun, dont want to know the sex as its that surprise element after all that hardwork pushing n panting, its just a magical moment when they say 'Its a girl/boy etc'
We are having our friends and family round on the night for a home-made curry and preview of the dvd ha, I just cant wait.

Hi girls,
We had our 4D scan a couple of weeks ago, at 25 weeks, and it was just amazing to see our little one's beautiful face and hands in such detail. They gave us four really good colour stills and a 15min DVd to take away, and at times when it's moving between one position and the next it does go a bit bumpy and out of focus, but it's not scary. They also avoided the lower half of the body cos we didn't want to know the sex, which was great. Ours was called a 'bonding' scan and I can honestly say it was a great bonding experience - now when I get kicked and punched I can imagine who is doing it! I loved it and so did DH, my sis (who came with us too) and the grandparents and family who have seen it since.
Definitely recommended. A friend of mine who had twins last year said when they were born they did actually look exactly like their 4D scan images.

After these positive comments we went for the 4D scan on Tuesday and it was great, not at all spooky just lovely to see bambino moving happily around, pulling funny faces etc. Not sure what the reaction will be when bambino is grown up and sees it!! but we loved it.Smile

Thanks again
