positioning of baby

i was just wondering, has anyone had their baby be anterior but then turn posterior in the last few weeks?

my cousin had this problem she has just informed me but managed to turn him back before labour ... so guess it is possible .. damn! fingers crossed this doesn't happen to me, although i fear it already has as belly has gone a bit squashy.

DS did it in the last 2 days. Beautifully anterior for weeks and weeks, including at my last m/w appointment, then flipped just before I went into labour. Now I've got to know him I think this is typical of his personality...

is yours posterior?

if so you could encourage him/her to turn by getting on all fours then lowering your head down and resting it on your arms with your bum in the air. stay like this for 10 minutes then get back onto all fours and rock and walk backwards and forwards on all fours for as long as is comfortable a few times a day or lean forward onto birth ball or couch.

oh leah, how annoying! i thought once the baby had engaged they wouldn't move before labour, i guess i was wrong!

mine flipped from posterior to anterior to lateral in the four days before birth (she was 2/5 engaged too )

I went for a long walk and that got her into the right position we think, also water birth very good for getting a good position during labour

MummyToToby -- Well, DS never engaged (biggish baby (10lb 5.5oz), only even got to 0 station after I'd been pushing for 90 minutes and eventually had emergency c/s) so you may well be OK. It was annoying as I'd been doing all the "right" things (lots of really long walks to encourage engagement as well as positioning) but, hey, that's the way life goes.

yes, it happened to me, felt dd2 move and...there we went again.this was years ago and noone ever talked about posterior position.but it is important to know , as labour has a different pattern.It was very frustrating I was never believed until the end. dd1 was posterior but head not engaged, she turned when midwife broke my waters and engaged all in one contraction.This was a long, but not too painful labour.
dd2 's head was engaged very low and pressing on my spine, nothing I did could relieve the pain and when teh midwife didn't believe me I started to hyperventilate end cry and only then I got examined properly and got an epidural, which was bliss.could still feel the pain, but was bearable.
ds3 was in excellent position.
I wouldn't worry too much beforehand.
In this country you will get offered an epidural if you suffer too much ( not in my country!) and althoughI had an epidural : no stitches at all!Stop worrying, there's not much you can do about it.( i tried all the exercises and was very active, stil posterior babies)
