Not sure, sorry - I know it is a very gentle laxative and I was given it post delivery but when I was pregnant and constipated my GP just told me - prunes, water etc. Wish I could help more! Maybe someone else can?

I just googled and found a US site which said ask a doctor first

assume you have tried dried apricots, prunes and lots of water?

is this related to iron tablet? if so, try flouridix (from health food shops) instead its far gentler

hope that helps

I'm pretty sure it's fine, but you might want to talk to your MW.

Mine recommended one of those icky fibre drinks when I was having bad constipation, but I found a good diet, and lots of walking, was the best fix.

the US site said medicines graded from A to E with A being not during pregnancy .. everything was on a risk analysis basis .. they had lactulose as B

You read it right the first time, lactulose is ranked 'B'. That probably means they haven't tested it that much on pregnant women ...

I was prescribed it during my second pregnancy and got through quite a lot!

is it the stuff in a big clear bottle? if it is then yes, the pharmacist in boots told me it was gentler than the friber stuff drinks. u're ment to have 3 tsp's twice a day, I only took 2 tsp once and was relieved.
