Dad's get 2 weeks paternity leave right?

D's just told his boss that I was having a sweep and that if we can, not that it works this way, but we'll be having the baby this weekend, fingers crossed, so that you know, come Monday he might not be there.

His boss didn't really seem to register what was being said so D said 'You get what I'm saying G right?' and his boss said 'Yeah, yeah, well I'm giving you a week off'. D didn't say anything at the time (not sure why) but it is 2 weeks he's entitled to isn't it?

how long to go do you have?
because i think you have to notify employers in advance that you want paternity leave

Employees must inform their employers of their intention to take paternity leave by the end of the fifteenth week before the baby is expected, unless this is not reasonably practicable.

iyt isn't unpaid... he should get statutory paternity pay

My DH has just had his 2 weeks paternity leave and every father is deffo now entitled to it although it is at the basic rate which I believe is £106 a week my DH got his fully paid though because his employer tops the rest up.

OH and yes he did have to notufy them in writing 15 weeks prior to whe I was due to pop.

He did notify him ages ago, he was just reminding him that if bubs arrives this weekend come Monday he won't be in.

PS, No cot still not sorted.

if he notified him in writing, 15 weeks before your due date, that he would be taking full paternity leave... then yes, that's what he is entitled to.

the site says that you can take either 1 or 2 weeks and that it can start from the day the baby is born, regardless of whether that is earlier or later than expected.

so no reason why he shouldn't get his 2 weeks IMO

Hmmm, he didn't put it in writing, they just sat down and had a chat about it ages ago.
