Normal iron levels?

Can anyone tell me what is the normal range for iron levels are.?
I think mine might be too high.

Have been looking at notes from previous pregnancy and have had an abnormally high result for ferritin. Though nobody mentioned it to me at the time

This pregnancy midwife congratulated me on high iron results and told me to keep eating well. HB/Gl (is that iron?) is 132.(at 15 weeks)

AM a bit concerned because there is a genetic condition in my family called heamchromatosis (iron overload) _ am getting in ton hypochondriac mode now.

midwife has just told me that my iron levels were very high/good - they are 140. She said normal is around 100 - 110 i think...

Well if it is the case you should ask your midwife
13 seems fine at this stage but I am not a qualified medical professional.
At 38 weeks you would aim for 9.5

"normal" would be 115-165 according to my antenatal notes.

Does your midwife know about your medical history? If you're worried speak to her or your GP about it.

Zephyr and Jansem thanks now i know what the normal range is.

I had blood test for this condition about a year ago. GP said result were fine (though didnt give me an exact figure) she advised me to be retested in a couple of years.

I will mention it to the consultant next week. AM going to have write down everything I need to talk about.Itchy legs, severe back pain, possible elective ceaserean or VBAC the list goes on.

In think that 132 level is for ferritin (iron stores) not iron in your blood count. Normal ferritin levels are 30 to 150 (mine are 10! oops) and normal iron level in pregnancy is anything from 10 to 15. Although that will drop below 10 in the last trimester. (Below 10 is officially classed as anaemia and requires iron tablets).

I wouldnt worry if they are good and high it is a good sign that you absorb iron from food well and that will keep you going in last trimester and through delivery. They would certainly be informing you if it was a problem for it to be too high. Hope that helps.
