Went to see my midwife today, i am 34 weeks pregnant so still time for baby to turn, BUT and yes thats a big but, i am so worried about baby being breech i feel like i really need to know if baby is breech or head down it streeses me out thinking that baby may be wrong way up & i may go into labour like this & try & give birth!!

Is there anything i can do ??

I said to the MW that when i see them again in 2 weeks & if they are still not sure can i have a scan to check & put my mind at rest, she said probably yes, but i know that my normal midwife (cause i saw a new one today, who i must add was so so lovely)will not allow this she just seems to brush everything under the table as it is what should i do?

Five oclockish is lots of childrens' tea time, so mumsnet probably pretty quiet. Also, breach births isn't something that many people know about. Sorry, I can't help, but bumping it up for you.

hi
i was told my baby was breech from 32-36wks and same with DS. Then at 36wk check told baby was right way. To be honest I really wouldnt worry as the babies do turn and it is not worth getting worked up. If they still think you are breech at 37wks then they send you for a scan. My friend had scan at 37wks then went in on tues for c sec cos baby still breech only to be scanned just before and told baby had turned in the last day and she is 39wks.

hey chill out!

You have plenty of time for baby to turn. They have said they will give you a scan if they aren't sure. Don't worry!

My dd was breech from 32 weeks but was told not to worry, of course i did cos the thought of a section was too much for me. She was breech up till 37 weeks but went for scan then and she had turned, i knew she had turned cos my bump felt different. It did take 3 midwives and a consultant to check me before i was sent for scan tho cos no-one was exactly sure of her position. Don't stress too much, baby will have to come out regardless of position!!

Thanks for the replys

I know i still have time, the reason i am worrying is because i have so so many fears about having a C section & i think thats what is making this worse i really DON'T want a c section. I know though that if baby does not turn i will probably have no choice as i really do not want to give birth to a breech baby vaginally.

Anyway i will wait till i see midwife in 4 weeks & then start my full on worrying

ds was transverse, then breech until almost 38 weeks when he turned (he was a footling breech) I was told there was little chance of him turning as I have a very slight frame. But turn he did!

As everyone here says, there is plenty of time yet. And I know several women who had vaginal deliveries with breech babies - including one who had twins!

Is it the extra scan your midwife won't allow? Insist on one! In fact I had loads of scans because of ds' position

My dd was breech until a week after i was due -this was 9 years ago though, she turned all on her own in the end no problem. Th percentage of babies who remain breech is relatively small so i wouldnt worry uneccessarily and get you and babe stressed out.
