You are never 37 weeks !

Some people say it's an old wives' tale, some people swear by it. It 'worked' for my friend - she ate a whole fresh pineapple and baby came later that day. But he might have done anyway.

Read about it today on here - thread about natural induction?

And you need a Christmas name.

If baby doesn't come, you'll have the squits after eating a whole pineapple, that's for sure.

Here you go:
Fresh pineapple
There is an enzyme in pineapple which is also reputed to be a natural inducer of labour ? however the enzyme is only found in fresh pineapple (the process of juicing or tinning the pineapple destroys it) and is only present in small quantities. Allegedly you would have to eat as many as seven pineapples to consume enough to have an effect.

I think I made a Malaysian chicken and pineapple curry a couple of times during my last couple of weeks of pregnancy but DD was only 1 day early.

37 weeks is early IMO. Ds had to be born at 37 weeks and I didn't think he was ready. He looked FURIOUS btw!
DD was born at 39 weeks (started labour naturally - nature is a bitch!) and she was really ready to come.
Best let them decide when the time is right, I think.

love the name thomcat btw

My DD was 37+5 weeks, didn't eat pineapple and DP was gutted he didn't get his promised sex ervery night, did take RLT's from 34 weeks though.

What I did was plan a lovely week off with DP to get everything ready, romantic meals, cinema trip, even booked myself in for a brazilian and of course DD comes early to thwart all our plans.

TC - my NCT class teacher insists that it has to be REALLY ripe fresh pineapple, so buy a few and eat them just before they go off!

If you're really desperate to make it happen, then blow jobs are allegedly better than sex for bringing it on. It's not just a lie made up by men either! Prostoglandin is in sperm, and is also the stuff used for ladies who have to be induced. Prostoglandin is absorbed better through the gut than by other means though, hence the BJ being the better option.

So now you can tell DH that the ladies on Mumsnet said you had to give him a BJ - he'll love us!

Tabs I did both (sex and bj,s) everyday and still was overdue

BOTH, EVERY day, wow!
I love sex and giving blowjobs but not sure I could cope with both every single day for weeks! LOL.
I'll try though, how exciting!

The pinapple I just ar=te had a sell by daye of 27 Nov and the one I have at home is the same.

I did the pineapple thing for 9 days and even though I love the stuff it has put me off for life and dd2 still stayed in til her due date anyway, so it probably doesn't work.

Funnily enough I craved fresh pineapple all throughout my pregnancy. Craved it to the point that I had to scoff it before I got to the checkout (got it from the deli bit at the supermarket). Felt a bit silly but it was a compulsion. I must have eaten about 5 pineapples a week. Never tired of them. Didn't do much for the birth though as ds was induced at 39+3 days. Meconium in waters when they broke - hence the induction. No signs of foetal distress during birth and great apgar score - maybe he was just sick of pineapples!
