just found out have strep b - what to do?

I did decide to take a strep b test even though am having aplanned c section, what am i to do now? Bit upset ;(

You need to talk your midwife or consultant, dont worry though you aren't alone, my daughter has just tested positive as well, thank goodness you have found out, x I posted a link on here yesterday eve, for the Strep B support charity, it is worth reading.

Thanks, they said to dscuss at pre op but i will phone them tomorrow just incase they need me earlier. Dont think i need drugs if doint actually go into labour, just will feel so paranoid baby will get it and prob be anxious around it knowing me!

Just been readin about c sections on this forum and lots have said they dont give drugs in these cases but then they have gone onto say their lo developed strep b infections. How do i challenge this? Im panicking now as due in for it in a few days and feel really anxious now!

Ask if they will be monitoring lo after the birth, I am sure they will do as they will know that you are carrying strep b , x

I was tested pos for this, had normal labour with antibiotics through it then baby had checks every4 hours overnight in hosp, all was fine.

Please try not to get upset. It's great that you had the test as it can now be managed however the medical team feel is best. It will be absolutely fine, I tested +ve as well, had a vaginal birth with antibiotics and there were no problems at all.
