Third bleed in three weeks, they only discussed the Rhesus negative issue today, has something been missed?

I've had some problems over the last few weeks Here.

I had another bleed in the early hours today and went to the EPU this morning. They examined me and said my cervix still appears closed, which is great. But, they've decided to give me blood tests, and a scan tomorrow (which I'm very pleased about as my 12 week scan is on monday and I'd thought they'd make me wait).
On the blood test forms it mentioned Rhesus, so I told them I was Rh negative (and it's my second pregnancy). DH described it as a kind of light going on in the doctors head! So basically I have to wait and see what happens tomorrow with the scan and the blood results.

What's bothering me though is why this has not come up before? My first bleed (at 8+5 weeks) was huge. Should they not have thought about the Rhesus issue then? I've not yet had a MW apt as I cancelled my first (it was supposed to be inbetween my first bleed and the scan three days later and I couldn't face a two hour booking apt if I was then going to be told I'd miscarried) and it's now booked for saturday. Noone asked me, and obviously I didn't think about it.

I've been reading threads on here and it looks as though it may not be a problem as I'm not 12 weeks yet. But the doc today seemed to imply it may be a reason for the bleeds.

Confused!

Sorry you are going through this As far as I know, the rh negative factor only becomes an issue in the second trimester. They do not give anti d shots for bleeds that occur before 12 weeks. I have never heard of rh neg being the cause of a bleed, and I have had extensive, sustained bleeding in two pregnancies and am also rh negative. Good luck, I hope everything is fine for you, I've been there too so know the worry but I really don't think you should worry about the rh factor.

However you should insist that you get an anti d shot if the bleeding continues after 12 weeks, and regularly after that until the bleeding has completely stopped. I think I had them every 4 weeks for the duration of the bleed, with additional boosters when the bleeding was acute.

Thanks for the response. I had a scan today and everything is fine. They gave me an anti d shot today as I was so close to 12 weeks. If it happens again I know now to insist on one.

But I'm hoping it doesn't happen again!
