Vivid dreams in early pregnancy - is it a sign?

I just wondered if it's common to have really freaky dreams when you are only just pregnant...

I have been up the last few nights with these strange, horrible or just really vivid images in my head, and then I wake and it starts all over again.

When I'm awake I feel like I'm in a dream and when I'm asleep it feels very real.

I seem to remember this from very early pg both times before, but wondered if anyone else has had it and whether it's a definite sign for you.

It is very odd and not that enjoyable!

Thankyou

Hi Flighttattendant.

Yes you are right i have had these with all 3 of my pregnancies DD7 MC at 6 weeks in Jan of this year and Pregnant with DD now (due in Nov) there is a really good site you can have a look at, type the two week wait into a search engine and you will be amazed at some of the symptoms you dont usually hear about. I suffered with severe acid indigestion at 5 and 6 days past ovulation. My G.P. thought it was BS but hey he's a man! but the dreams! OMG they were so vivid i just knew we'd conceived again straight away.

Good Luck

Thankyou Veyron, that's good to know!

I will have a look for that site. Have been having very weird stuff going on this week so would be interesting to compare.

Thanks again

Your'e very welcome, I remember how frustrating that wait can be. Are you activley TTC? I started keeping a diary of everything that could have been PG related as were TTC for 11mths (That was horrible) We then were told after my smear test my cervix was tilted. Went home tried something different and BANG straight away! Sadly as i said before MC at 6 weeks - bled for 7 days. then we both decided not to wait and to try again ASAP and tried the same thing and BANG! PG again and fingers crossed all ok!

Yup, I had lots of them, including a couple of horrible ones where I cheated on my DP or had a miscarriage and no one would help me. There were a good few times I woke up shaking and in tears.

Actually I think one of the worst and wierdest was where I dreamt that I came home and found DP had set up some kind of S&M club at home, then was really horrible to me and insisted I had to make dinner for everyone there!

I told him about this when I woke up and he said "your subconcious thinks I'm a complete bastard doesn't it?". Then we laughed about it a lot.

I believe it's caused by anxiety/stress surrounding the pregnancy, which explains why my dreams were mostly about losing my partner's support or losing the baby.

Before I knew I was PG, i slept walked and woke up asleep in my sons bed (this has never happened before) I have no recollection of how that happened.

I have had the most random realistic dreams too... some are super excellent (featuring such hunks as David Boreanaz) others not so much (featuring many large spiders)

I put it down to the hormones, as since becomning pregnant (am now 10 weeks) I have only slept the night through 3 times...

If you are having recurring dreams it could be related to anxiety, but if not and they are good, enjoy them while you are getting enough unbroken sleep to enjoy them

I had a very vivid dream that I was pregnant and in labour - when I woke up I thought ooh if I dream about pregnancy that means someone is pregnant, (this has happened before) oooh I wonder who it is ooh ooh. Bearing in mind we have been TTC for two year without even a sniff of pregnancy, just recently made the decision to stop, handed in my notice at work to go and do a college course. Seriously.. the first month not paid any attention to CD, EWCM, ovulation.. NADA
Of course it was me that was pregnant HURRAH!

Yes, experiencing these again - very vivid dreams - when I wake up from them it's hard to get to sleep again, so I end up getting up and having a drink and watching tv for a bit before heading back to bed (just intime for morning!).

I am TTC and on my 2 week wait. I never ever remember my dreams usually but for the last 4 nights I've have done. They have all involved my boyfriend and some kind of jealous paranoia on my part which is not like me. I have 4 other children aged from 22yrs to 22months and this has not happened before. Is it a good sign?
