Travel insurance while pregnant

I'm going away and want to take out travel insurance. Direct Travel only covers the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. Anybody know of a better insurance policy that lasts until later in the pregnancy? Am thinking we may well go away when I'm 30 weeks pregnant.

Hello, I used sunselection they were great and covered me up to 32 weeks, providing this pregnancy was classed as normal, no risk.

Should say that you will have to phone them as online they won't quote.

I have an annual policy with Columbus who said they would cover me abroad provided the doctor was happy for me to travel. BUT that they wouldn't cover the cost of cancellation for a pregnancy related issue if holiday was booked when I knew I was pregnant.

Another vote for Columbus here - we took out a policy to cover a trip to NZ when I was 22-24 weeks. They would cover me for any problems that developed while I was away, depending on the pregnancy being uncomplicated when we bought the policy. Not sure how long into the pregnancy they cover up to, but we arranged it all online, so it was easy, so worht a look!

Ours in through our Llyds TSB Bank account.

We travelled at 32 weeks and they were happy as it was a low risk pregnancy.

Think I had to have a Drs letter for the airline though, so check about that too.

Ravenhall were suggested to me, but I haven't used them yet.

I have insurance through our Natwest bank account - I called to check my policy for a holiday we'd booked before we found out I was preggers. The v friendly chap I spoke to told me it's no longer possible to deny travel insurance on the grounds of pregnancy (so long as your Dr certifies you fit to fly), since it's discriminatory.

So, technicallly, anyone should be OK!

I used Insure and Go - really helpful and friendly and I think they insure up to 32 weeks. I've also got a fit to fly letter from my doctor (be aware you might have to pay for this...)

marks and spencers will cover you as long as the airline will fly you! (so up to the end of the 35th weeek for lots of airlines )

One thing though; check that they will also insure the baby if you have any complications or go into labour while you're away - a lot of insurers cover you only.
