DS1 is nearly three and we have been potty training for about 5 weeks. He is nappy free all day apart from a pull-up for long trips out. It just feels like we're not really making any progress. He basically has not worked out that he needs to tell me when he needs to go. He will hold it and can go up to a couple of hours but needs to be reminded to use the potty otherwise he bursts. If I tell him to go and use it then he will so that's great, but I can count on one hand the amount of times he has told me himself. That means we are still having 1-2 accidents a day.
Does anyone have any tips on how to get him to take the next step of working it out for himself? Is it just a case of persevering or should I be employing a few more tactics?
