Help! Moving from potty to toilet

DD1(3) cracked using the potty back in aug/sept (she still wears a nappy when sleeping).

I've been trying to encourage her to use her "special seat" on the toilet for a while now with limited success & wondered if anyone had any tips for me? I'm getting fed up with carrying a potty with us everywhere we go!

She has done a few wees and one poo on the loo, but refuses to even try most of the time. She used to get sticker rewards when she was first potty training, so I've started that again (two for a wee on the loo & three for a poo!), but she says she just wants to use her potty!

Have you got a step to help her up there?
Does she have cousins/friends who are big girls who she could watch on the big loo one time (god that sounds weirdy but you know what I mean I hope) so that she would like to copy?

Yes, she has a step & she can get on & off it herself, although she's not practiced it much. She's in a room with older kids at pre-school who use the loo themselves so lots of big girls to copy!

The weird thing is when she does use the loo (maybe once in the last 3 weeks) she is SO excited & pleased with herself (and by the praise and stickers she gets!) I don't understand why she doesn't want to use it more?

I try not to make a big thing out of it, just give her the choice of the toilet or potty every time she says she needs to go. I've asked them to give her the same choice at pre-school, but AFAIK she has never used the little loos there.

Perhaps I should try a star chart? Stickers have definitely been a great incentive & there's not much room on the potty for many more!!

I put the step and toilet seat in place and then after a few weeks of giving a choice I told dd1 that the potty was broken ( little White lie Smile) and that she could still go the loo - worked a treat Grin
