DS is 2.9 years old. He is smart and obedient BUT refuses to use toilet/potty, he seems a little scared. However a few nights ago he sat on it randomly and wee-ed. I made such a huge fuss and he was so proud, telling everyone the next day. However he won't sit on it again. What do I do? Go cold-turkey and just pop him in pants or wait till the Summer and hope it will be better then?
Thanx

DS is 2.9 too. We thought we'd start potty training on Good Friday - 4 days at home, good weather. Went to M'Care and made a big fuss about buying pants. He wet himself once and then was not interested in the potty, would not sit on it etc , athough still wanted to wear pants so just held all wee/poo for 3 days (saved for bed time nappy). After 3 days we went back to nappies. A few days later he said "Pants today" and we talked about if he has pants, then he has to use the potty. That must have been a month ago and it's going great - he chooses his pants in the morning (Thomas or Bob!) and asks when he needs to go to the potty. Nappies at night still, but often dry.

I'd wait until your DS seems more interested. Maybe back to nappies for a few days?

I havent taken him out of nappies. I.e. I havent tried, just been using his lack of interest as an excuse (as i have school runs for my 5 year old and my 11 month baby also to fit round the potty training.)

Hence i havent done it, but should i just put him in big pants and give it a try?

No i'd wait and do it when he's ready. Always keep the potty in sight and hav nappy free time when home. Ive been doing this for months and my DS 25mth decided one day, no more nappies and we've not looked back since. xx
