When to move from potty to toilet

I have waited to toilet train DS2 until I really had to and am really pleased I have. He has taken to weeing and pooing on potty really well and quickly. He will also go when I needs to without reminders. Things are going well BUT he seems to have a real toilet fear. DS1 never had this and although I had a nightmare with toilet training he would use any toilet anywhere. DS2 on the other hand will only go on the potty which is a bit of a nightmare when we are out and about.

Anyway I am really looking for some tips about how to encourage toilet use or whether this is just a developmental thing.

He will be 3 in April BTW

Go shopping for an exciting seat together? Get the padded ones that sit on the top rather than those that go underneath. You get all sorts of interesting ones nowadays. DD1 had princesses, DD2 had ducks! Grin

Another suggestion if you have two loos is to temp make one just his. Let him put pictures up etc just so he feel comfy in there.

But the big, comfy, padded seat usually does the trick.

Thanks for the suggestion. We have the special toilet seat that is a double one but could try a different seat instead. I'll see what he says!
