Hi
I am writing to ask for help for a great friend of mine's DD. Dad is a single parent bringing up a DS 8yrs and a DD just 5 years.

The parents split 3 years ago and have very little contact with mum who sadly found serious drugs just after losing their 3rd child at 24 weeks pg ...

Dad is fantastic and the kids are great however the DD wets herself day and night and will happily sit in it for hours.

Her urine also smells so incredibly strong (despite being told she has no urinary tract infection...). TO be honest she smells of wee all the time and has chaffing.

What can Dad do? He has tried taking her to the loo every 45 minutes and it can work but she will still wet herself.

I think her problems are related to her mother not being around but I don't want to jump to conclusions but want to try and help.

love jx

If her wee is so concentrated then she needs to be drinking more. To tone and strengthen a bladder a child needs to drink LOTS and empty the bladder regularly, but not too often - the bladder needs to be filled and stretched. Like any muscle it needs a workout to get stronger.

Ideally they should have about 1.5 litres in 12 hours and toilet every 2-3 hours. Children that don't drink enough have weak flabby bladders that can't hold much wee at all before they empty.

well, tbh I can't really add anything to what quietlysuggests says. Good advice I think.

Good luck to your friend and his dd
