digital economy bill - getting your internet because your son's friend downloaded some songs

Just a reminder - the Digital Economy Bill is going before Parliament next Tuesday. The bill takes the same approach to digital copyright as it currently takes to libel, ie, guilty and punished until you prove yourself innocent.

In the bill as I understand it, it's the person owning the connection who is responsible for making sure that nothing copyrighted is downloaded, you could lose your home's internet service because a friend of your teenager downloaded some songs.

A bit more on the bill:

You can email your mp - this will walk you through it:

and, more fun, there's a flash mob set for Thursday in Central London - it says bring black tape to censor yourself with:

I'm doing the awful thing of posting and running, almost literally - I need to get my son to a friend's so I can go for my run.

Sorry if this has been done to death here! I did a quick search but haven't kept up enough to know if it has...

The tide seems to be turning a bit, but this could use more support if you're so inclined!
