Corbyn calls for decision making for the millions, not the millionaires

"Jeremy Corbyn calls for 'magic circle' to be broken in a plea for popular politics

Jeremy Corbyn has called for the "magic circle" of Westminster to be broken and the views of "ordinary people" to be heard, as he addressed thousands of Labour supporters at the final leadership rally before the ballot papers go out.

The party leader said he would encourage "decision-making for the millions not the millionaires" as he spoke at the event in Ruach City Church in Kilburn, north London."

Amazing stuff. The Establishment and the 172 are totally despondent, and their mood was not improved when they read Dan Hodges's devastating deconstruction of Owen Smith, the 172's last hope. Some of the 172 are possibly already thinking of throwing the towel in and of how to gracefully ingratiate themselves to Corbyn and his team.

"DAN HODGES: Spineless, incoherent, incompetent - and how Owen Smith's house of cards is collapsing.
...
His [Owen Smith's] skill as a media performer was demonstrated on Wednesday, when he tried to boast of his pivotal role in the Northern Ireland peace process. When this John Terry-style glory-hunting fell flat, he tried to further embellish his credentials in international conflict resolution by announcing he would happily sit down for talks with Islamic State.

Whereas most Labour politicians content themselves with waving the red flag, Smith opted to wave a black one. An hour later Corbyn’s camp issued a statement distancing themselves from his stance, leaving Smith the only person in British political history to be outflanked by Jeremy Corbyn on the issue of national security.

The 172 haven't got a clue what to do to stop Blockbuster Corbyn, as the classic Sweet 70s hit, Blockbuster, said.

They're not happy, not happy at all, the 172 and the Establishment, when they read what Corbyn said. This wasn't the way it was meant to be when they were studying politics at university.

"The principle of democracy has to be ground up," he said, as he urged supporters to vote to re-elect him as Labour leader.

"It is about breaking open this magical circle of Westminster, some of our great universities, Whitehall and the boardrooms who try to control thinking, control ideas and control the way policy is developed."

Mr Corbyn said the "magic circle of decision-making" meant the views of "ordinary people" were ignored.

"We need to have decision-making made for the millions and not the millionaires," he said."

'So is there any plan on how he is going to break the ^magic circle*'

Corbyn is not going to broadcast the plan so that the Establishment and the 172 can pounce on the plan and try to tear it to shreds using their media. Corbyn is keeping his cards close to his chest, but from the look on the faces of the 172 today, the plan is only too real.

The 172 can't use Blair, Brown and Kinnock and that lot again; they ballsed up the EU referendum for them. The public aren't listening, they know the game. So the 172 thought they had a great coup yesterday when they got Sadiq Khan to back the 172's candidate. There was joy and celebration among the 172, but they still don't get it, no one cares what Establishment Sadiq Khan has got to say, it's Corbyn all the way.

I heard this on the news last night. It's all irrelevant as he is never going to be in power to enact his policies.

Grin

Now the spin that things have to be kept secret for the sake of the party and country

He is sounding more messiah like everyday

I hope people wake up soon and realise that he will never ever be PM and a vote for him is a vote for the Tories to be in power longer with a useless opposition and a greater majority

Sadly it won't be this leadership election maybe next year

Establishment Sadiq Khan

Grin

That's funny don't you know his father was a bus driver

He can make the genuine claim of being from the ordinary people something the very privileged Corbyn can't no matter how much he pretends

So does he want to hold a referendum to change sentence 8 of clause bii, section 2 of The Strawberry Jam (percentage of seeds in) Act 1832?

Frankly, I expect my MP to vote on my behalf. I would have neither the time, the inclination nor the knowledge to vote on the vast majority of government business.

Who or what is the magic circle? Its vague and ambiguous like much of Corbyn's policies.

I mean he stated he was going to spend £500 billion to create full employment. But failed to say where the money was coming from (from the magic circle perhaps??).

Corbyn sounds fine as long as you don't look at the details. The problem is that the Conservatives will and bring it to peoples attention and they will just demolish him. He is a rotten leader as evidenced by he lack of support in the PLP.

Not sure the details matter Corbyn has said it must be broken so that's what must be done

Who are we to question him, the saviour of the ordinary people

Trump doesn't think silly things like details matter either

'Not sure the details matter '

I agree. It doesn't matter that we know who the "magic circle" is. All that matters is that Corbyn knows very well who they are and they know very well that Corbyn knows who they are. They are under no illusions about that which is why what Corbyn said shook the "magic circle" to the core.

The "magic circle" are most probably leading lights in the Establishment, from our great universities (you know the ones), who like to think of themselves as whizzkids or wizards of the "magic circle".

Corbyn has announced that the magic circle's game is up and that is all we need to be told by Corbyn's team at this stage. That should be good enough for us.

As Corbyn said

"It is about breaking open this magical circle of Westminster, some of our great universities, Whitehall and the boardrooms who try to control thinking, control ideas and control the way policy is developed."

This is not in the "magic circle's" handbook and was definitely not what they were taught in our great universities. This is democracy Corbyn style!

Corbyn the man the attends memorials for IRA terrorists, the man who has shared platforms with journalists that are openly antiemetic and shall be doing so again soon, the man that calls Hamas and Hezbollah friends, the man that says he will not commit NATO

Yeah he doesn't need to be questioned at all Hmm

Sadly many of his supporters agree with you

Still he will never ever be PM so he can witter away about magic circles, establishment conspiracy against him while the Tories get on with running the country with a useless opposition

He staged the sitting on the floor of the train, there were seats available (which he sat in after the photo op).

What an absolute imbecile. I can't work out whether he's being mendacious or is simply as thick as mince. Bit of both, probably.

The bloke's an irrelevance, as are his supporters, whose numbers are currently running at about 0.5% of the electorate, no matter how many rallies they hold.

Nah I don't see it. He's more of a Trotsky type useful idiot to the really nasty stuff hiding in momentum and other shady organisations. It's no coincidence that Galloway's Respect party has disbanded in order to support Jeremy Corbyn in the leadership election.

Still, those who see him as this empty vessels into which they can project their fantasies and resentments can fill their boots no doubt. I'd just like an answer to this as I've never see an Corbybinista able to provide one to date. Let's say there is a jihadi outbreak the like France is enduring in the uk and it happens on Corbyn's watch (because, like, when he's not singlehandedly eradicating poverty he may have to deal with that shit). How exactly will our peace loving, Islamist friendly, anti establishment star of the radical firmament deal with it? Shoot celery sticks at them? Stage a siege sit down? Deliver the sermon on the mount?

Ps and for the love of God please don't say the situation won't arise because we'll be all loved up in a Corbyn Winterland.

Terrorist sympathiser, anti-Semite, misogynist, 'gentle'man who surrounds himself with rottweilers, misogynist and capable of as much spin as Blair; sad times for the Labour party at a time when a strong opposition is desperately needed.

He could nationalise Islamists. That might work.

For one day I'd just like the kind of lefty MNer that populates these forums to experience what the French have been through - and increasingly the Belgians and Germans. To feel what it feels like to not know where the next attack is coming from. To understand that most people don't give a flying f about the 99% or magic circle or whatever is the latest tin foil paranoid conspiracy theory in vogue right now.

When I get on the tube I say a small prayer this won't be the day. That my kid is not chased through the streets because he's Jewish. These are worries as genuine as people's inability to pay the bills but I never ever hear the Corbynistas say a word about them. I was totally pro Remain but to think that Corbyn was somehow tapping into the zeitgeist is just unreal. This is a man who is pro open borders, who would leave us defenceless, who hates Israel, NATO and America.

Still, he's a man of the people and that's what counts.

I am a lefty

I understand what you are saying. There is a type of lefty, usually MC, usually white that seem to despise what they have come from or play it down, that overlooks the issues of antisemitism or will straight away bring up Israel, dislikes everything America stands for, patronises the working class by telling them you have no need to have the privileges we have had its better to have a fairer society

Sadly one is leader of the opposition at the moment

And yes I sympathise greatly with everyone in France and with those that are having to make difficult decisions do they try and halt the growth of the right and extreme Islam or do they do what a country can afford to when it is not under attack and the their people do not feel threatened

I agree Marmite - I cannot get past his affinity for violent activists that have brought actual harm to so many in the UK.

And the man of the people schtick should have worn thin in 1992, ten years after he was elected to Parliament (having been a union official and councillor before then)

To me, a man of principle means someone who won't be able to choose between two equally unpalatable options, as he will have to do if he is PM.

Report
Sooverthis · 24/08/2016 08:51

Given the number of times he ignored the whip it doesn't bode well for him making decisions the majority want as the PM has to do.

Report
SoloD · 24/08/2016 09:04

In a way it's sort of a pity that Leadson did not become PM, we may have seen a split in the conservative party and a group of centrists from the Conservatives and Labour going to make a new center party which could have been good for this country.
