Ed is phenomenal. He is right on nearly all the issues. No spin, he'll do it his way, he is for real.

The Labour conference will be very interesting. If they were all like him, they would deserve to win. He even says he will separate retail banks from casino banks. He says he will take on vested interests on behalf of the people, but that may be his downfall, as they will be out to defeat him to prevent him making change for the better.

Am I the only one who thinks he is the biz, a prime ministerial political whizz?

He went to Haverstock School, he ain't no fool, he plays by the rules. He ain't no toff, he don't say things that are off; just cos he's a celeb, he don't think we are plebs. They say he's a wonk and a geek, I think they've got a cheek trying to put him down, he is himself, he don't act the clown. He's gonna try with all his might to do the things that are right. He's on our side, not in it for the ride, the type of thing the public can't abide.

At school they didn't call him 'Thrasher', he ain't nothing like Dennis the Menace's Gnasher. That's why he probably couldn't be a whip, he keeps his mouth zipped and hasn't got a foul-mouthed lip.

claig... are you ok?!

You've written a rap about your love for a Labour politician just there, you know.

claig Sun 30-Sep-12 21:19:35

I know smile.
I have been a fan of Ed Miliband for quite a while now. I think he is really good. He is serious, doesn't seek the limelight, just does and says things for real. As Matthew Parris said on the Andrew Marr Show today, Ed Miliband has got dignity. I think he has got real class, not the type that is bought by fees at a private school, and not the type that thinks it is above the ordinary people. He doesn't have to shout, he doesn't have to swear, he doesn't have to bully because he has got real class, something that money and privilege can't buy.

Fobwatch Sun 30-Sep-12 21:20:40

Op - who are you and what have you done with claig?

claig Sun 30-Sep-12 21:24:22

Oh, and he is not one of these millionaire former investment banker politicians. Give me a wonk and a geek and frankly anyone rather than those.

claig Sun 30-Sep-12 21:26:40

grin Fobwatch. It is me, I've had an epiphany!

I like Ed Milliband.

But I'm very surprised you do claig. We don't normally agree.

<suspicious sniff>

ivykaty44 Sun 30-Sep-12 21:35:09

Claig what''s happened to you?

BigStickBIWI Sun 30-Sep-12 21:35:43

I like Ed. I voted for him. But I've always been worried that he isn't doing enough to persuade people.

I'm hoping that his quiet integrity will finally win through. As long as he has some convincing, persuasive policies ...

claig Sun 30-Sep-12 21:37:46

I'm fine, yes I've had one glass of wine, but then it's about time and it ain't no crime!

claig Sun 30-Sep-12 21:41:40

A lot of papers and spinners are trying to portray him as not being leadership material. That is why opinion polls reflect that. I fear that there are also those in Labour who want to depose him and put someone else in. But that will be a huge mistake. There is no one else like him in Labour. They are sitting on a gold mine and all it will take is time for the public to see him for the good leader that he is.

Inneedofbrandy Sun 30-Sep-12 21:41:52

I'm warming to him, would vote labour even if he was a plank, but agree with the dignity. Will need to watch show on catchup.

claig Sun 30-Sep-12 21:44:49

First they tried 'Red Ed', now it is geek and wonk, but that will fail too. His strength is that he is a decent chap, one of us, no 'Thrasher' and his class shines through no matter what mud they try to throw at him.

claig - are you going to start read the gaurdian? Or would that be a step to far?

chocolatespiders Sun 30-Sep-12 21:50:42

This thread has made me smile... I love Ed and the labour party but didnt see the show today .

claig Sun 30-Sep-12 21:51:21

That would be madness and as Madness sang 'one step beyond'.
I think Ed will start reading the Daily Mail because he wants to serve the people, all of us.

crazynanna Sun 30-Sep-12 21:51:43

I am sending you a Wolfie Smith tshirt,Claigy wink

ivykaty44 Sun 30-Sep-12 21:54:21

madness are great - go for it.

PanofOlympus Sun 30-Sep-12 22:01:12

When claig goes for a Labour politico I get really suspicious.....it's a rouse to encourage people to support an unelectable Labour leader, thereby ensure a Cons. majority at the next election.

claig - you are sooo easy.

PanofOlympus Sun 30-Sep-12 22:03:36

the rap was quite good though, albeit OTT.

claig Sun 30-Sep-12 22:09:15

No, Pan. I like Ed and I am a Daily Mail reader. If I like him and what he says, then I bet that many more Mail readers do too. He is a person that can win over Conservative voters who worry about the state of the NHS, care for the elderly, rip-off pension charges and casino banking cowboys.

The reason is that he is genuine and doesn't think that the millions of ordinary people who vote Conservative and who read the Daily Mail are any different to Labour voters. He understands that we all have the same concerns and worries. To some millionaires, we are all just plebs. Miliband is on all our sides, he is with the 'squeezed middle', the trades unions, the workers, the unemployed and the sick and he is willing to take on vested interests on all our behalfs.

PanofOlympus Sun 30-Sep-12 22:10:30

So you'll be voting Labour at the next General Election then?

Badvoc Sun 30-Sep-12 22:14:53

I like him.

claig Sun 30-Sep-12 22:15:05

I am seriously weighing it up. I will have to see if they will remove our civil liberties from us, because that will stop me voting for them. But 75% of what they say is right, so it really depends on that extra 25%.
