I have some good friends who are bahai and I mean to recommend mumsnet to them next time I see them. His family were persecuted and escaped Iraq by the skin of their teeth. I have been there at their meeting once and read up on it a bit. Its very peacefull and inclusive. I didn't feel an urge to convert though. There seem to be alot of bahai groups here in Ireland.

hi Rosylily,
I'm surprised to here there are alot of groups in Ireland, I wonder if they are converts or have moved there.

I like the inclusivity of the religion but not sure about the founding fathers of the faith.

Imagine following this religion in a land where you are bound to be persecuted - now that is real strength of character.

Its a big mixture of converts and people who moved here. It does seem to attract and welcome easily new converts. I am more inspired by how the people are within it nowadays than what I read about its origins. I think the persecution has always been horrendous for them. Their groups have always got involved with peace projects here in the north.
