Padre Pio..what a guy! I don't think he is a saint though, (is he?) but he's definitely my hero of the Faith.

What about you Lookingforfocus?

Great question, by the way!

Pio is a Saint, yes. I like St Nicholas of Myra, he of the Christmas fame. Awesome defender of the faith. And looks pretty fearsome in the icons. Ho Ho Ho Grin

I've been reading lately about Bernard of Clairvaux, fascinating character and enormously influential. Thomas More was my childhood hero.

Also, Cecilia, because music.

St Martin de Porres, my granny used to have the most beautiful picture of him in her kitchen & he always brings back happy childhood memories. She is also very fond of Padre Pio, she had quite a collection of pictures Smile .

I like St Edith Stein or St Benedicta of the cross, as she became. Very intelligent, she experimented with different ideologies before settling on Catholicism and converted from Judaism, dying in Auchwitz in 1942. What a life story she had! It's her courage search for truth that makes her saintly and her trust in God: www.ucatholic.com/saints/saint-edith-stein/

Saint Anthony! Always been for generations in my family. My great grandfather build together with others a chapel for St Anthony. He is a constant presence of reassurance.
