StGeorge (or anyone else who can help me) - Having meditation problems!

In desperate need of meditating - brain all over the place, lots of confusion and I can't hear my heart iyswim, but lack of sleep lately is making my brain not calm enough to meditate, or I pass out before I can (and as nice as the sleep is, its not the same calming that I am needing).

Any suggestions on how to calm it slightly? I'm thinking maybe I need something to focus on, but can't think what - I have tried a candle, but my brain flickers and wanders as the candle does. Oh, cutting out caffeine too

TIA

Yep, cut down on the caffeine big style - but be prepared for backlash as you wean yourself off.

I find quiet background music useful - or even some sort of white noise - just to cover up distractions.
I have a couple of cds with good stuff on, drop me a line if you want me to rip you some copies.

Try sitting up quite straight without anything supporting your back when you want to meditate, harder to fall asleep that way. If a candle is flickering too much to keep your attention, try a small lamp instead. If you can put a scarf or something over it to dull the bulb even better.

Nearly 12 hours without caffeine, and feeling like hell. Am very very very about how much I must have been having, and what it must have been doing to DS - its not surprising he doesn't sleep through!!!

I will email you about the cds As always, you are a star.
