the first one is nearly full.

Anyone welcome, it's basically a "what happened in church/spiritual life/anything else you want to chat about that's vaguely related (or not) to churchy stuff.

nickelbabe · 19/02/2011 17:29

nickelbabe · 19/02/2011 17:31

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/02/2011 17:34

nickelbabe · 19/02/2011 17:38

ooh, my video has finished "producing" and is now "uploading"

i wonder how long that'll take?
i've got to hoover tonight, so i'll be around for a while!

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/02/2011 17:39

you uploading direct from PD??

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 19/02/2011 17:45

yeah.

i know you said it'd take longer, but i decided to experiment with different formats.
it's only a 10-minute video for this one though (not the choir one, this is a belly dance one!)

nickelbabe · 19/02/2011 18:19

how did you manage that, baroque on the last thread?

when i posted 1001, it said "this thread is too big to accept new messages" Shock

how did you manage to get 2 more in??????

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/02/2011 18:20

Grin - I had 2 threads open and hadn't posted on either - so the "add message" was still there and worked Grin

Well, ds1 has just arrived home after 2 weeks away with a new girlfriend! She's got a cut glaaass accent, but apart from that seems very nice. They're going out in M/cr later and then staying the night here.

I'm still a bit bereft about the loss of his old gf however, she was lovely, a Christian, and seemed so reliable, but there we are, life and love moves on I suppose.

I hope they won't be up to any shinnanighans after lights out (like I would've been at their age!).

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/02/2011 19:03

lol - I'm loving the fact that her worst point so far is her cut glaaaas accent Grin

Marking my spot on here. Grin

That link was a bit random Nickel Hmm

Baroque, I do the newsheet in colour, but it took 6 months of nagging asking and it being frowned upon. We got a new printer and it cost the same to do a colour sheet as it did with the old one B&W, so I sort of pushed it then and there has been no going back! It doesnt matter how much colour is per sheet, its the same price, so I make the most of it! Wink

BetsyBoop · 19/02/2011 21:01

just parkin' me bum Grin

madhairday · 19/02/2011 21:09

Ay 'up

Another church-newsletter producer here, also do the website.

Haven't got on yet today as been at godson's baptism, was lovely. Now I have finished his cross stitch I can play on PD! Yay! Getting there but keep getting cross when it doesn't do what I think it should - trying to get my head round the keyframes thingy right now :)

Anyway marking my place.

essenceofSES · 19/02/2011 21:14

Hello! Can I join the thread? Not sure what I will contribute but I think I'll find it useful to just have this as a prompt to think about my faith a bit more IYKWIM?
Since having DS I find it even harder to get a focussed quiet time!

PositiveAttitude · 19/02/2011 21:30

MHD website sorter here to, to some extent. castlehold.com if you want a nosey!

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/02/2011 22:15

I haven't really used the keyframes thing yet Grin

PA - the prices we had between a b&w printer and one that could do colour was huge - so it's baclk and white Sad

Have any of you ever instigated Messy Church or God in Play sessions in your churches? If so - will you share your experiences(good and hideous)?

lyra41 · 19/02/2011 22:22

someone on here has, I remember them talking about it, but not me I'm afraid. My only experience of messy church was at Greenbelt (I think, or it might've been New Wine). It was fun as I remember it.

Mummyrev · 19/02/2011 22:27

We do Messy Church once a month in our village. Reaches fringe people so is great in that respect. Far too crafty for me but we are blessed with enthusiastic helpers. We don't do the meal part but have cake instead. My only criticisms are: the high craft element means that we don't really appeal to boys plus it is hard to build meaningful relationships when you only meet once a month. But generally Messy Church is great.

LittlePushka · 19/02/2011 22:37

Thanks for that! Did either of you do it before or after the main service or at the same time in a separate place. And how is it embraced by the traditionalists in the congregation?

Mummyrev · 19/02/2011 22:44

We do it completely separately from our 'normal' service as it is aimed at people who don't normally do church. We also do it in the village hall rather than in church. We have also started a new family service in our church, but again are holding this as an additional service rather than replacing a more traditional one. Our Messy Church is on a Sunday afternoon but I've also done similar stuff in an after school slot which also worked well. I guess you need to think carefully who your target audience is, so to speak. It isn't really for the Traditionalists. Let them have BCP instead Wink
