Now i know that probably not the correct term for it but thats to all intents and purposes whats he's going..

He's a 2 year old entire working bred Labrador, He's great, very well trained and completly obediant.

Like all dogs he likes a lick and has always dedicated a lot of time to his manhood but when he was a puppy he managed to get his willy stuck out and after much whinging and whining from him it went back in, i know dogs lock when they breed so i figured what it was the same at that, i just left him to it, it went back to mormal eventually ( after about 15 minutes ).He seemed to develop a taste fot it, he's always dont it occasionally but it seems to be getting more frequent just recently, he's done it 3 times in the last 2 weeks that i know of and it wouldnt be so bad if he didnt ejactuate alover my kitchen floor when it happens.

Quite honestly its making me feel sick, i have had dogs before all entire and never come accross this, I dont know if i want to keep a dog who wanks on my kitchen floor, its repulsive and we have a 3 year old and one of the way so dog sperm is not what i want to be dealing with, qhite honesly the poo and mud combination is enough at the moment.

I now there are several dog people on here who seem to know what they are talking about so i am asking advice.. what do i do, it cannot continue, its vile.

He's not been castrated because its never been an issuee with any previous dogs and apart from this obvious sexual behaviour is isnt with him, he seems completly oblivious to the oposite sex. We dont get any bad behaviour when there is a bitch is season locally and there are a lot of dogs round here. We would castrate him i it was likely to stop this though.

Has anyone been though a simalar thing ?

Sorry of this has put you off your dinner, i have been driven to posting becase he's just completly put me off mine.

Yes, I had a terrier who was taught by a dog I was fostering at the time to do this. It really was revolting to have them grab cushions, hump them like mad and then make a big mess.

I had my terrier castrated at 6 months and needless to say that stopped him!

Oh my God! I thought they just dry humped! Am very alarmed as have been letting my sisters dog hump my leg for 2 weeks (have been looking after him). Thankfully, no deposits as yet.

I am a vet and wouldn't guarantee that castration will stop this behaviour but it is quite likely to help. If you feel that you want to be sure that castration is the answer before you go ahead, you could try an injection called Tardak. This is a chemical castration and lasts about one month. I don't think there are really any other solutions.
From a personal view point, if he was my dog I would have him castrated straight away. There are other benefits (particularly prevention of prostate problems) and it is a straightforward procedure.

Thanks for replying

Would he still be able to ejaculate if he didnt have his testicles ?

Dogs ejaculate an amazing amount, i really wish i didnt know that.

He's making such a bloody mess, its mainly the sperm which is getting me down to be honest though i really cannot say
enough how revolting it is to have to watch him do it and i certainly don't think its the kind of thing i want children to witness. He did it last month when we had a house full of guests .

I'm so repulsed by it i find it very hard to give him any affection for a while afterwards which is sad for all of us

I had a probelm with my dog (female though) and when I spoke to the vet about it he said she was sexually frustrated and should be 'done'. Maybe speak to your very, they will have heard it all bfore so dont worry.

yeah i think an appointment with our vet is ont the cards.

How much is it to get dogs done and is it a big op ?

will it change his personality ? you do hear of dogs getting fat and lazy post op and if i am honest thats why none of our dogs have ever been done.

I guess thats better than livign with Hugo the amazing wanking dog (as our friends affectionatly call him )

He technically could still ejaculate without testicles but it is very unlikely that he would, in my experience.
The cost will vary depending on where in the country you live. In my area, Surrey/Kent, castration for a dog of his size would be in the region of £200.
It is not a major op. It obviously involves a general anaesthetic but only takes about 15mins to do. Most dogs are fine in themselves within 24 hours but need to have their exercise restricted for 10 days post op.
Castration doesn't affect personality in an adverse way but does sometimes calm very excitable dogs down a little.
It is true that a dog's metabolic rate does drop after castration but there is absolutely no reason why they should become fat if you bear this in mind. I usually advise a reduction of calorie intake from the day of the surgery and periodic weight checks over the next few months.
Hope all that helps!

dragging this up because i caught my dog doing this today.. the first time i have witnessed it. he is a 4.5 year old cavalier spaniel. I went to lift him up because he was like...twitching.. and he was actually humping air(not twitching) with a GIANT manhood swinging around(ew ew ew)!!! I was like ... i didnt know what to do with him! So i put him in the kitchen. I am glad to know that it is normal! I hope it is a once off though!

PMSL. How about doggy condoms to keep the canine jizz off the furniture?

PMSL at Hugo the amazing wanking dog!

Hysterics aside it does all sound a bit grim, hope the snip cures him of his tendencies.

My 7 year old Cav has did this on and off for years, however more frequent in the last few weeks, he also had a bit blood when he pood the other day, i took him to the vet today, he has an enlarge prostate, my vet reckons he can treat him, i'm devastated because i never got him neutered as a pup :(

Tagging in....I have a 10 year old male Yorkshire Terrier who has always masterbated when he's in heat. Only he doesn't dry hump anything, instead he leans back in a sitting position and uses one of his paws to jack himself off and then he licks himself clean afterwards. Poor thing has such short legs he was always unable to hit the spot whenever he was around a female. We tried to get him several partners hoping it would remedy the issue but he just got more frustrated! Can dogs be gay? Reason I ask is because he does this more whenever he is beside our other male Yorkshire Terrier he grew up with. Just wondering.
