Last party dd1 went as spiderman and dd2 as batman as they are their favorites. I don't think them being a different gender to the character really matters.

DD went as Bananaman to her superhero day - we happened to have a Banamana t-shirt anyway purely because I liked it, she has no idea who Bananaman is and just bought a yellow cape to go with it.

We've just sent out invites for my sons superhero party and more than half are to girls. I just assumed they would wear the same type of outfits as the boys.

last year for a superhero day in school - big sis made a costume for niece. Pink tights, with lighter pink bikini bottoms over the top, pale pink top with an S glued on and a pink cape made out of an old tablecloth. she loved it!
if she is pretty happy wearing anything, let her pick which superhero she wants to be. doesn't have to be female if you're struggling to find one, but toys r us now seem to do a small selection.

Sainsbury's have some girls superhero costumes
We got DD a Spider-Man one which has a sparkly red tutu and I know they have a batman one with a black sparkly tutu in stores right now
