Evening all, DD is 2 in a few weeks and I was looking for ideas for activities that 2 year olds may actually engage in... Cookie decorating? Something like that maybe? Suggestions gratefully received! Thanks.

Maybe pass the parcel. I wouldn't bother with any organised activities like cookie decorating, just have lots of toys out.

At DS1's second birthday we had toys out at one end of the big room, and a table of colouring in and stickers at the other end. Many 2yos haven't got the hang of craft at all yet.

A bit of a calmish singsong while the food was put out.

Food, ending with cake presentation.

More singing and dancing - more like Hokey Cokey, Grand Old Duke of York, If You're Happy And You Know It. Meanwhile DH is cutting up cake and putting it in party bags.

Pass the Parcel may be beyond 2yos too unless you have lots of helpers and/or multiple parcels going round.

Hand out party bags, push everyone out of door, flop on sofa, drink Wine

I had pass the parcel and some other things arranged for dd1's second birthday, but the kids were happy playing with the toys I'd put out (in the village hall, our place is tiny).

We did put out a quieter table with playdoh (homemade because I am cheap!) and cutters, that did get used.
