I've got the list of the 7 little ones I'm inviting (eldest will be almost 2), and everything else is arranged, except what to actually do with them...?
They're going to be too little for pass the parcel and musical chairs, so what do I do? DH suggests finger painteing, but that could get messy and spoil party clothes. help!

just get the toys out, supply with lots of 'finger' foods and let them get on with it - they're not going to expect much, and they won't understand much either

Agree with QofQ. Free play, then uncover the food, then when they've got it all nicely mashed into the carpet, cue lights off, cameras out and birthday cake with one candle and all the adults singing Happy Birthday.

finger painting likely to lead to mess and tears IMO.

Just do what you would do when friends are round add party tea and cake.
We did nothing for ds yesterday!!! How mean is that!! Grandparents came round for a slice of cake!!!

Could have some balloons around? Don't stress it. ds ate for two hours solid at his party, ran around a lot and that night slept straight through until 8 in the morning. I was all ready to have a party every afternoon after that.

A nursery Rhymne Cd in the background to make it go with a swing, perhaps. We just put out some toys and let them bimble about. Then let them do some food squidging for the 'tea'.
