HI
Just finished reading this and was wondering if anyone knows of any more up to date studies that have been done on this subject, more recent books about it. WOuld be interested in reading something more up to date that would support what Liedloff writes.
Thanks for any help.
xx

Haven't read the Contiuum Concept but in a similar vein you might be interested in a book that was reviewed yesterday in The Observer "The Philosophical Baby: What Chidren's Minds Tell Us About Truth" by Alison Gopnik.

The reviewer talks about how this book seeks to "correct the influence of books..that seek to accelerate the inescapable process of inhibition by advancing the cause of adult control". It also cites some quite interesting experiments into how babies' minds work.

ALfie Kohn and "unconditional parenting" seems to have derived most of his ideas from the Continuum Concept. A better book is "Letting Go as Children Grow" by Deborah JAckson and she actually refers to Liedloff throughout.
