as I'm quite concious of the fact that a lot of the time when I post about him it's because of his poor behaviour.

Well last night (thursday) he made me really proud (and I shall tell him so in the morning).

I've not been sleeping well for the last week or so (well probably longer - but the last week has been particularly bad). Combination of stress and sick children.

Last night after I'd put DS2 and 3 to bed at 8pm I lay down on the sofa, telling DS1 (who has recently turned 8) that if I did fall asleep he should take himself off to bed (I don't go and tuck him in etc anyhow - so it was just going to be a case of me not telling him it was bedtime).

Well I didn't really think he would as I thought he'd get engrossed in his drawing or something and "no notice" the time. Well I totally crashed on the sofa. His bedtime is 9pm........I woke up at 9.20pm (briefly) - and he'd already taken himself off to bed with no prompting from me.

I know it sounds very silly - but I'm immensely proud of him for that as one thing I struggle with with him is his lack of intuition to get on and do something even if I don't actually stand there and spell it out to him.

bravo, sounds like you have quite a little man on your hands! I bet he watched the clock and welcomed the new responsibility.

oh and another thing I've discovered he did - he told me this morning that he remembered he needed to have his 3rd dose of the day of his antibiotics, he knows he just has one plastic spoonful so gave himself one before he went to bed.

Think I ought to start giving him more credit for how responsible he can be when he puts his mind to it

definitely sounds like he is ready for more responsibility and lots of praise for rising to the occasion.
