he'll let you know if he needs burping. i'd just let him sleep and enjoy the peace and quiet

No, let him sleep, if he gets uncomfortable he'll let you know

People get a bit obsessed with burps don't they? And teeth. Just let the wee fella sleep that's what I say! And you do the same....

No, don't wake him up. Get some sleep yourself and don't worry!

No, he'll be fine. After you feed him, even if he's asleep, maybe prop him over your shoulder and rub/pat his back for a bit, if he needs to he'll burp in his sleep! If he doesn't burp prob. he doesn't need to.

Just try and get some sleep when you can. First couple of weeks are tough - it will get easier I promise!

Let him sleep. He'll wake up if uncomfortable. If baby falls asleep in your arms, keep him/her upright for a gentle cuddle for 5 mn to ease things dpwn a bit.

If you BF, then do not worry about burping at all.

Just want to add. I BF my baby and co-slept and fed lying down most night up to 6 weeks without a glitch.

After that I noticed baby would not settle and continuously root. That's when I realised that she had started to gulp more quickly and was uncomfortable and had to be winded.

So satrated feeding in siting position and holding her upright for 5 mn. She would then root again and fall asleep immediately.

So, my advice is : However tired you are, better 30mn half asleep in a chair every 2 to 3 hours than trying to stay comfy in bed and no sleep at all.
Remember, get yourself a very comfy armchair in front of the computer for night feeds. That's what mumnet is for

Oh, just re-read, baby is 1 week. Bless!!

Just do whatever is easiest to get enough sleep. Nothing will happen if not burped, apart from waking up again because uncomfortable.

Take good care of yourself too. Eat sleep.Eat sleep. Eat sleep. etc.....
