a small lesson on parenting and almost 4 year olds..... involving zebras in London

when your (poorly) almost 4 year old turns round to you, points out the window and says "Look a zebra" do not be scathing, dismissive or call her a silly-billy

when she runs up to the other window and screams 'look, look a zebra for real a zebra' .. go and look

there is every chance the local council, in their infinite wisdom, have decided to paint their rubbish trucks into the semblance of an odd-toed ungulate of the Equidae family (yup I wiki-d it)

pmsl!

Reminds me of one Christmas morning yeeeeeears ago when my brother came to tell us all that there was a cow in the garden.

As if!

Although when we went to check, well, really just to show him that there couldn't possibly be a cow in the garden... guess what? There was a cow in the garden.

It chewed up some grass then ran away, with about ten chaps from the slaughterhouse down the road chasing after it. (why they were working on Christmas day, I don't know... is it an every day of the year job, slaughtering? anyway, I digress)

Did you apologise to dd?

In order to fully appreciate the cow in the garden story, you have to understand that we lived in a residential suburb of Manchester - not anywhere near a farm!

We had a pheasant in the kitchen one Christmas Day - it just wondered in through the side door. We live in residential Leeds. Was in half a mind to shoot it for dinner.
