Haircut - dd (9) do we cut her hair or not?

DD, v pretty (not inherited from me!) has hair down her back. Curly, so a nightmare to brush, altho straighter now it's long. For ages now we have had screaming, shouting etc when I brush it, she can't do it herself, so it either looks a mess or we have a tantrum. She has agreed, sort of, to chopping it to shoulder length. Am I being a cow?

Well my dd has shoulder length hair and it still gets very knotty and she has a tantrum when I brush it. So be warned it may not solve the problem totally - though guess there would be loss knots if there's less hair!

How happy is she about having it cut? Could you maybe go halfway between shoulders and current length first and see how she feels?

Arf. My dd1 had hair all down her back at this age, and I used to regularly threaten her with a No. 3 crop.

I think teaching them to DIY is the key. Get detangler, leave-in conditioner etc and a decent brush and teach her how to manage it herself. It's the only way forward.

keep buying detangler etc, but honestly, the screaming and stomping that goes on...have made appointment for tomorrow. do girls really need very long hair?
