When did you put your baby in their own room?

Hi, I'm just planning ahead, but was wondering what everyone else did. Did you have a nursery/room ready for them for when they were born or did you just put them in their own room when you felt they were ready?

dd was in our bedroom till she was 8m old...this one (im pg atm) will be in her/his room at 6m old as 6 m was suitable but i just dragged it on with DD

DD in our room till 15 months (small house, no space, had to wait till we moved)

Ds in our room till 12 months - terrible sleeper. He moved in with DD.

Dont think there's any hard and fast rule - depends on how they sleep, what space you have and how you feel at the time.

5 months for ds, but I would put them in their own room as soon as they started sleeping through.
My friends ds1 was in his own room at 3 weeks, and ds2 at 6 weeks, and thats when they both started sleeping through too.

Well over a year each time. Best sids advice is in room with parents until 6 months. Certainly didn't have a nursery ready!

Three weeks both times Evil mother aren't I? Couldn't sleep a wink with them in same room as me. We all got on a lot better with baby in own room.

10 months. Cot fitted in our room, so they only thing in his room was the changing station and a big bean bag for when I wanted to sit up and feed him in the night.

again baby's room very close and both doors left open.

we all slept better this way, DP's snoring didn't disturb the wee mites and their snuffling didnt disturb us.

Both at about 8wks as both were big babies so grew out of the moses basket.

Unfortunley our bedroom is not big enough for a cot.

6 wks - too much grunting from dd and dh - would wake each other up. Put moses basket into cot until it was outgrown

10 weeks in own room and in cot from day 1 - we couldnt stand the grunting/snoring and found that ds slept much better in his own room anyway and we seemed to sleep much better too.

Ds didn't go into his own room until he was 18 mths because we didn't have a room for him to go into until we moved. I wouldn't put a baby in their own room until 6 mths personally. I am pg again and this one will be in with us for at least 6mths - a year as it will have to share with its sibling. I bf ds until he was a year and tbh it was easier having him in the same room, his cot was right next to the bed so I didn't have to get out of bed to feed him, I couldn't be doing with getting out of bed all the time in the night to feed.

My daughter's bedroom was all ready for her when she came home at two days old. She didn't sleep there overnight until she was about seven months. She did have daytime naps in her cot in her own room from about three months old, though, and I think that helped her with the transition a lot.

My niece is nearly 5 still refuses to sleep a full night in her own room!! She sleeps in her parents bed, even though they have a gorgeous room all ready for her!! SIL is thai though - maybe its pretty normal over there?

my ds was in his own room from around 3 months with baby monitor on. Having said that the least snuffle, rise in temp, cough etc he was back in his crib in our room.

He did seem to sleep more soundly in his own room

She was about 18 months I think.
She had a habit of singing early in the morning which was lovely, but we needed our sleep.
She had no trouble (after I worried for days!!!)
