Reassurance needed!

DH was looking after ds this evening and let him roll off the bed and he landed face down, squealing. I was so shocked I didn't know how to react at first. ds has been perfectly fine since, in bed now but I feel a bit shaky and weepy.
Please tell me this has happened to others and the babies were fine!
I feel like I've gone back to red alert newborn phase since ds started crawling - I see danger everywhere and visualise all sorts of horrific accidents involving knives embedded in skulls etc etc.
This evening's incident not helped by the fact that ds collided with the corner of the bedside cabinet this morning and I think he's got the making of a black eye (dh assures me I'm ott on that one) and the days lately have been a chapter of bounces, knocks and bumps.
Am I a bad inattentive mother or have I just got to get used to this?

Get used to it I think! DD was just a couple of weeks old when I thought it would be a great idea if she slept in her moses basket next to me on my bed so I could easily settle her in the night. I fell asleep rolled over, took the duvet with me and DD rolled off the bed!!! Took me a while to get over that one!!

Yes it certainly happens to everyone - mine fell off the bed when only a few months old (with no ill effects)

Most mortifying experience was when I had dd (then a few months old) balanced on a kitchen worktop - with my arm crooked around her to stop her falling - and with my free arm went to open a wall mounted kitchen cupboard. A can of beans fell out and rebounded off her head. I kid you not

Oh, it happened to my dd at least three times that I know of (dh probably did it as well and kept it secret like me too!) DD is as normal as an 11 year old can be!

dd2 has fallen the full length of the stairs twice by the time she was 18 months. also rolled onto her a couple of times when she was a newborn and sleeping with us. And tonight, she was 'helped' out of the bath by her sister who basically threw her out of it and she landed head first!!!

oh the stories ....

thank you soooo much for the quick and reassuring replies!
Will watch out for tins of beans! (does the brand make a difference I wonder..)

dd rolled off a window seat (with my mum sitting next to her, I wouldn't mind!) when she was 3 weeks old ! She lay there with a kind of 'ooh, what happened there, then?' look on her face but was fine.

She is now 2.3 and will trip up in an empty room, has fallen off the sofa in horseplay with her dad more times than I care to recall, went off a beam in Tumbletots 2 weeks ago (and got a huge egg on her forehead), every time she just gets up and gets on with it.. not sure if I should be worried that she's got no pain sensors, but hey... ;)
