Harness/Reins

I saw a lady in the park yesterday with reins for her toddler but they weren't like ones I have seen before, it was black and possibly leather it had a short handle type strap close to the little ones back and also a long strap like the usual ones you see, has anyone any idea what I am talking about?? I should have asked her about it really but didnt' think at the time.
Does anyone know where I might get one from?

yoiu can get leather ones on the internet or innbaby shopes

if they attach on bothe sides then they are handy to help stop todler falling and also for putting your foot through eg getting things out of the car or when you need two hands to fold a buggy etc

I've been trying to teach ds1 to hold hands as I've never liked reins. He's a runner and is a very active (understatement!) little boy, he's 3.5 now but will stop when told to as we always talk about things and dangers etc. I've found it easier to exlain and talk rather than restrain, dd 5.1 is perfect when walking with us and we were the same with her.

you don't feel like you are "tying" them to you... but if you need to grab them, then you can!
mine have loved wearing their "rucksack" - infact when i needed it for DD2 i had to buy another. DD1 had a meltdown.

Thank you for your replies. I didn't want to get into the whole reins, rights & wrongs discussions and that wasn't the question I asked.

I tried reins with DS (nearly 2) as he is very fast, very inquisitive and will not hold hands. On reins he just lifted his feet and dangled, he was amused, I wasn't. Then his uncle (sporty type) bought him a little ruck sack (not the one on the link but not dissimilar) with a very secure 'lead' attached. DS loves it as he feel like a big boy with his own bag (which incidently fits his juice cup or spare nappy!). He is now aware that there are reins attached but is not bothered by this. This works for us.
