Bathing large 9 mnth old who can't sit unaided!

Any suggestions for how to bathe a large 9 month old who can't sit unaided - without crippling myself and drowning him?! He used to have a bath support but has outgrown it and attempting to squeeze him into a bath chair is almost impossible without a screaming fit because a leg is trapped/squashed............

I tried to bathe him simply sitting in the bath last night but lets just say it wasn't overly safe and he almost took a nose dive at least twice - mainly becuase he gets so excited and splashes about he forgets to hold himself up and just lunges forward.

Any ideas??? I already have him on a non-slip bath mat but other than that I am out of ideas! Are there any bath chairs that open at the front rather than having the 'swing seat' type design??

Any help much appreciated!

Get in with him! I did this with mine as otherwise I was stooping over teh bath which killed my back.

Simply lie them on their back - they are then free to kick and splash about and you have your hands free to wash them, plus play, plus supervise any rolling! Keep the water shallow though. My DS and all mum friends bathe theirs like this, my 9mo can sit up unaided but still prefers lying in the bath, and also outgrew his support seat some time ago.

This is what you need. Join up free and you get a percentage off too. Their prices are good and I've bought a lot from them including one of these!

Is there a good method for getting you both out again though??

I agree with Scotlou, get in with him! We did that with both of ours.
Also my ds loved having a bath with his dad, he is now 3 and still loves it! A friend read somewhere that sons bathing with their dads helps their confidence, not sure how but he does enjoy it.

Lay a towel on the floor by the bath before you get in. Then you can put him on it, then get out yourself. Works for us.

OUr kids never get in the bath alone, it's always both children and me or dh. We have a wonderful new bathroom, just for us adults (supposedly!), big rolltop bath, Farrow & Ball, fluffy towels, and the minute I get into it on a weekend morning there are two hopeful little faces staring at me, atop little bare bodies!
