Any tips on how to use this with my little one - when is a good time/age? How do you introduce it?

Sorry it sounds simple just wondered if there's any special tricks Smile

We started using it at about 3 years old. Very simple explanation of if the star is on it's still time for you to be in bed. Didn't take long to get it and if he wakes before the star he will stay in bed - sometimes asleep or playing quietly. He's nearly 5 and we still use it although he often wakes after the 'sun' now.

We started at 2; but it want until he was a bit older that he got it - I'd agree it was probably about 3.

At 2, he's come through and tell us the sun wasn't up, then get in and wriggle! By 3, it had "clicked". I do like the day and night setting though - we use one for week and one for weekend!

Ah thanks so much - he's only just 2 so might hold off a few months yet. Just wondered if it was worth thinking about with clocks going back etc. Thanks again Star

We used ours from before 2 so he got used to it rather than expecting him to follow it. So whenever he woke up at a reasonable time I would just press the button to turn it to yellow and say 'oh look it's yellow, time to get up' or similar. He's 2.5 now and definitely understands that he can't get up until it's yellow but he quite often ignores it and still yells for us when he wakes up. Although who knows - maybe if we didn't have it he'd be up in the small hours more often.

My son has had his since he was 20 months. By 2 he understood it... you have to be firm though and not let them out of bed until the sun comes up. My DS lies in his big bed now at 2.8 and chats to himself until the sun comes up then he knows he can get up and come into my room. Worth every penny imo

I started this with my dd when she was 3. She got it pretty much straight away. It was a lifesaver for me as am a lone parent and some mornings she was getting up at 5.30! Worth it's weight in gold for me!!
