AIBU to give up BF?

I have a 2yo dd and ds is nearly 4 months. Dd was EBF until 6 months when I went back to work; when we tried her on formula she had a massive allergic reaction and has been dairy free and on prescription formula ever since. When she was weaned I had mastitis 8 times and 3 admissions to hospital. Ds is EBF but I keep getting blocked ducts and am finding it very painful. LC and GP aren't being overly helpful - pain is soft tissue damage not current infection. WIBU to switch ds to formula? I love BF but I'm finding it hard. Or should I keep going?

Do what works best for your family :) YANBU to feed your baby however you want to. if you do decide to stop BFing, try to do it slowly to lessen your chances of getting blocked ducts and mastitis. Your HV should hopefully be able to help you come up with a plan.

Do whatever works best for you, however as said above, if you stop BF you need to do it gradually, one feed st s time to prevent mastitis, and it should also help ease your son onto dairy, just in case he had a reaction too.

Agree do what's best for you and your DS. Is it painful to express? Perhaps you can express and give him that in a bottle if it's easier. Have not had experience of blocked ducts can you see a diff GP? You've done really well to get to 4 months don't beat yourself up if you decide to switch to formula.

Agree with all the above advice. My dd2 is also 4months and I've just experienced blocked ducts which was awful found hot baths and massaging helped. Paracetamol was also helpful when it got really painful. Good luck with whatever you choose to do and hope your feeling better soon.
