alternative to ipod touch

Ds has asked for an ipod touch for his birthday, I'm happy to get him 1 I've seen the basic one for £140 in argos. Just wondered if there's a cheaper alternative on the market. He wants it phone sized without it obviously being a phone he's not old enough for that yer.

Have you looked on the Apple website they sometimes have reconditioned ones a bit cheaper?
