Snotty six month old can't sleep

Please help! DS has always been a rubbish sleeper, but now he's all bunged up it's worse than ever. He'll only sleep longer than 20 mins if I prop him up on my pillows, which of course means I have to hold him all night for fear of him rolling, and supervise all naps (not getting much done! ).

I've tried propping the cot up both under the legs and mattress. I've used saline drops and spray, olbas and Vicks, nasal aspirator and steamy bathroom but nothing is shifting it. It's been nearly a week now. He doesn't have a temperature but is cranky.

I had been doing some gentle sleep training which is completely out the window now. Ugh!

We put DDs steriliser in her room and set it off a few times in the hour before bed, made her room nice and humid which helped. We also used to let her fall asleep in our arms whilst we were stood up so she was upright in the humid atmosphere, then put her down once she was asleep. And we put Snuffle Baby drops in a bowl of boiling water in the room at bedtime. All seemed to help.

Vapour plug in worked for us, I think Calpol make them, can get in Boots. Expensive for what it is but was worth it!

I second the vapour plug. I've put mine to bed with that tonight as she has a cold.

Do the last feed of the night sitting in the bathroom with the shower on.
Or fill the bath tub with hit water with 10 drops of baby olbas oil and do the last feed.
This won't last all night but I always get a good few hours of clear airway from it.
I tend to repeat the process at about midnight.
We've had 5 colds now in 9 months.
Sleep is for wimps!

Which type of aspirator have you got? We found the bulb one useless, but the tube that you suck (as horrible as it sounds!) worked really well. We did that last thing before bed, and rubbed snuffle babe on her chest.
